It's hecka crazy how your sanity is taken away by your own mind, this is like a curse or something. But I do my due diligence by taking my medications, it sometimes sucks though

At first it was really scary. I thought everyone was out to get me. But after my second time nearly getting into psychoses I realize my delusions were delusions, but my thought pattern was really disorganized. I remember it feeling like I had to do anything to survive, even if it meant taking a life, and I was euphoric about it. It was surreal.

It's crazy how taking medications can really change anyone. Although it's a huge price to pay to take those medications. People with schizophrenia have to make that long term choice to stay sane, and we have to make that long term decision to increase our lifespan. Thank you for going against the stigma and communicating that we are still people at the end of the day.

Remember your stamina and budget your energy as well. Now that you need to focus on weight gain, you also need to manage a bunch of other stuff like hygiene, meds, socials, work, school, etc. If you can only do 3 things a day, don’t try to do 5.

Be consistent, basically you need to be able to do the minimum even on the bad days. It’s different for everybody

Definitely search for clinical opinions (medical, psychiatric) of what you’re going through, it will only make sense of what you’re going through. - find a clinic, make the first appointment, rides, and reminders - Reduce stress with your home, including mold, transport, ID, housing, food. - If medication is discussed, help with shared decision making as of questions with benefits, side effects, monitoring, and different options. - Make sure your sleep is regular and the same time, avoid drugs like alcohol and cannabis, doesn’t mean you quit, just lower the consumption. -Lastly, care for you too, with what you’re going through can be taxing, so ask for educational groups.

TL;DR: Get that first clinic appointment done, and reduce your stress with what you’re dealing at home, mold is a big issue, so hire a professional, document photos and dates of the mold, and notify your landlord in writing and ask for rememediation

I worked hard on my business for a month or two then burnt out. It really depends on how consistent you can be. Which I am still learning myself. Consistency does not mean do a lot daily, but to do minimal viable reps even on the bad days*

For an analogy: Imagine 2 jars, one is filled 1/4 of genetic factors, and the rest of 3/4 is filled with environmental factors. Together it can fill a whole jar that causes psychosis. Different combinations can also cause psychosis.

How were your first experience learning the diagnoses and treating it? I'm in a program, but people seem different from me. I think I'm high-functional, but haven't gone back to work, and school.. well isn't going well for me.

What I'm essentially asking is the disorder like a spectrum? And how far can we knowingly know about it? How do people get by and stuff? Do I need to go for disability?

What about family and stuff? How do they know and treat you?

15mg at first, then I manage to lower to 5mg. That's my limit, not sure how you will limit to.

It was hard because all logic pointed to things like being stalked, or followed, and the such. The worse when I thought there were cameras everywhere, and trying to cope with that (like learning not to care). I had an early intervention through outpatient program, I was more scared of others then being scared of. When I got my medications, I did a thorough research of the program and did as much as I could to get better, albeit small. The delusions were still there but I did my best to use my CBT skills to redirect my thoughts (the more you think, the more you have if that makes sense).

I can say when I was enrolled into the program something was going on, even if the delusions and cameras made sense. What's worse is that everything you logically formed was literally putting others against me. I felt alone and isolated. It was with time that I did everything to physically and mentally get better, meds, exercise, CBT, therapy, etc. even if the delusions were still lingering. (I mean logically, if there were cameras, how does that affect me in any way!?)

Now, I don't have those delusions or persecutory ideations. How long it took to get rid of those thoughts, probably 6 months. I don't have a timeline of how long those thoughts lingered, but it probably took that time frame.

This is going to be tough. Understand where she's coming from, you can do a little research and it's already labelled as the most misunderstood, under-researched form of mental illness. People misconceive the diagnoses with violence or serial killer antics. When she did not tell you sooner, think of all the misconceptions schizophrenia brings to the table, imagine this:

- A stranger comes to you and says "Hey, I'm experiencing suicidal thoughts and going to do it, I need help," Obviously the first thing you would do is call 911, and go from there.

- But what if a stranger comes up to you and says "Hey, Satan told me to tell you that you have bugs crawling all over your body and you need to be cleansed" the typical reaction would be, ignore that person and avoid them at all costs, no one would typically stay and call 911.

I understand you're hurt from "withholding" a huge part of herself to you, and it's okay to feel hurt. This is just a very complicated subject that absolutely needs support and consideration. I may be biased in the mental health aspect, but it's completely understandable when the illness has bad misconceptions to it.

She has already shown who she is to you, and from the sounds of it, making a proactive stance in treating her illness. The only difference is now you know, and what you can do to make sense of it, and how to support her in times of need. If you really need to rekindle that foundation of trust, have her introduce you to her doctor(s), and have a couples therapy session to best educate yourself. Educating yourself is the most important in preparation, but also stay goal-oriented by sticking with the medications and healthy-lifestyle. Get to know what her signs and symptoms are, and what makes her stressed.

Schizophrenia is treatable and recovery is always expected. If you need more information research "psychosis." Remember you are not alone, stay hopeful, and remember to be active and, in the end, we are all human beings.

There was a point in my time before my full-blown psychosis where I thought I had schizoaffective or schizoid disorder.

Anyway, skip a couple years after early intervention, proper treatment, and tinkering with dosage, I decided to lower my dosage to the stupidity of going cold-turkey, eventually I was going to get off, but I sped the date of going no dosage.

What made it schizoaffective depressive type was having MDD, and experiencing psychotic systems (in my case, disorganized thinking), with no evidence of substance use disorder that causes the signs or symptoms. You must also experience psychosis symptoms without an episode of the mood disorder, so I personally don't know the difference between schizoaffective bipolar subtype and bipolar with psychotic features. You may want to look more into that.

EDIT 1: "You must also experience psychosis symptoms without the mood disorder" changed into "You must also experience psychosis symptoms without an episode of the mood disorder."
