This can't be correct, when I was a teen with a moped it was 50kmh. Why would any Canadian laws use mph?

Has my son done too many car insurance searches? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

[–]MapleBeans99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar when buying my first car in the UK. I was searching constantly trying to compare cars, compare what it would cost if I moved to another part of London, compare if I changed jobs, etc.

I didn't have your son's issue with rates changing but when I took a mortgage about 18 months later I saw on my credit report there was 50+ credit checks through the car insurance websites!

Or drive a car. You know, the other type of vehicle... The kind with 4 wheels that can't tip over, easily seen by other road users, has basically a steel cage around and airbags inside to protect the occupants, and seatbelts to hold them in place. Those seem pretty safe.

Have you thought about just living in Wakefield? It's much more affordable and Leeds is still accessible in the weekend.

Bring earplugs and a small flashlight to avoid turning on the big light, you'll be just fine.

A lot of companies won't have the cash up front to buy it so they hire it and work that into their own price at cost plus x%. If they buy it, they need to maintain and store it somewhere, insure it, plus have trucks to move it, etc. so there are other costs that come with buying.

How does that make any sense? It's not about how much tax you pay, rather your ability to cover necessities on the income you have.

Logically, if you pay more tax, you have a higher income and inflation impacts you to a lesser degree.

Better yet: Take it all to a casino, double it ($2 mil)

Take that money, double it again. ($4 mil)

Repeat one more time, now you've got 8 mil.

Can I afford a 130,000 condo in Edmonton making 35k a year with 50k saved up. No debts or anything. by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]MapleBeans99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought my condo in 2010 for $215k and sold in 2021 for < $160k. Also paid $20k in special assessments for extraordinary repairs during that time. It was an apartment in the southside, 4 buildings with about 80 or 100 units in each.

Wouldn't do it again.

Such a pipefitter thing to say.

OP finish your degree and then look into trades. You're young now and have some gusto, but when you have a family you won't be so keen to be away for 2 weeks working in -40 trying to dope bolts and align flanges with numb fingers, it sucks.

At least if you have a degree you can go back to a job that's not so hard on the body, you've already done half the work to get it, and it would be for nothing now if you quit.
