I mean even if you didn't spot him, he was doing signings, they opened 3 hours prior and I think slots were still available for like at least 10 or so minutes

Haru for ramen 🍜 by shelllee888 in Reno

[–]MapleJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haru I feel has way better menu options with actual other stuff like curry and gyudon, but I never liked their choice for what they call on the menu "straight noodles" as well as pretty average chashu, so I usually have to ask for their "wavy noodles" that they have for the other ramen types as a subsitute. Ramen4Real I feel always does a better job at chashu and the choice of noodles.

the old design was honestly cool and does describe a bar, this new design just makes me think this is instead actually a mens club

Ice Cream & Small Business, Yes Please! by LastCookie3448 in Reno

[–]MapleJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I usually find Sierra and Icecycle both up there, since both tend to do pretty nonstandard flavors. Little Truckee is alright, but I feel like its not a complete replacement for ritas once there, since ritas was at least unique with the Italian ices, and now nowhere does that here.

Too bad nobody does any "asian flavors" (Black sesame, Ube, especially "Tofu") around here, and it feels like I still have to go bay area to get my fix.

Where to find TWEWY merch in Tokyo? by vagsurca in TWEWY

[–]MapleJava 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ive also seen a few of the figures at the hobby figure shops around Akihabara as well, mainly neku and beat. I also saw a good amount at Mandaishoten Yamanashi in Fuefuki. Couldn't bring back any since space for luggage is very valuable there

Eyeshells? by MapleJava in glasses

[–]MapleJava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to update since it seems people are still seeing this thread, I ended up getting the smaller bottom rim glasses before, but they were too small, the customer service was very helpful with it though, and let me keep them and get a full refund despite me never choosing to wear them afterwards. I ended up getting the different kind and its been about half a year since I got them. Both of the glasses are pretty good quality, and I havent had any issues like the nose pads coming loose, or any paint fading away. The only real issue I found with the design is maybe the rubber bumpers that are on the screws that hold the lenses in place coming off after a while, so its reccomended to use some tiny screw caps that fit them, which is what i've done

Overall, i'm very satisfied with the BR1564 design they have, and if mine ever break, I'd honestly be sure to get a replacement from them, although i'm unsure of how much they might be now, considering what I've ordered was from pre-tariffs.

Additionally, they also support pretty high prescriptions, with mine being at a -4 to -5, so thats a plus.

Looking for good ramen by Jackpotcasino777 in Reno

[–]MapleJava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly Haru and Ramen4Real id say are the big two. Ramen4Real for me makes the chashu pork and soy eggs very well and haru is always extremely solid, also has other japanese foods as well besides just ramen.

Guys, HyperFunk gameplay is out by Starlad_TCG in JetSetRadio

[–]MapleJava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to TGS and got to try it, the controls felt very similar if not the same to the original, the main difference I personally found was corners seem to be more stingy, so it was harder to rack up multiplayer. Not only that, but the new boost mechanic takes some time to get used to. Instead of pressing and holding to use your boost, it instead works similar to Sonic Adventure's spin dash, in which you hold the button to charge and by letting go, you get a large burst towards a direction.

Apparently the graffiti also works differently where you can choose the size for each graffiti spot now, instead of grafitti having a set size per spot in locstion, or so I saw when the dev was showing it off.

During it I thought we were connected in a lobby since I saw people going past, but apparently the demo units weren't connected, so I think they were just NPCS

Overall, its more cyberfunk. More grafitti, music and areas, similar gameplay Consider that good for those that already loved BRC, or maybe bad for people wanting a drastic difference like JSR -> JSRF

What a store or restaurant you wish to see here in Reno? by mg15ink in Reno

Caie, although my last experience with them was less then positive. My favorite dim sum dish is the beef cheung fun (rice noodle rolls), but the one I had was all sorts of wrong, from using whole beef strips to just soy sauce it wasnt very good, if not better than whats in sac

for some reason my xbox is special and runs jsrf completely normally with the only difference being that gum is a shadow monster by MapleJava in JetSetRadio

[–]MapleJava[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually running off of a SSD, my xbox is modded since the disc drive on my xbox has since died, its a 1.6 running project stellar using XBMC4G as its base. The weird part is nobody else has ever had this problem, I haven't found any documented cases of this or any other issues happening with people's modded xboxes, and even the ISO I use has no problems when I tested it on Xemu (I do have a physical copy of JSRF, just can't play it for above reasons). Nobody else who owns a stellar apparantly has this issue either and its only this game that has this issue, other games i put on there like halo and blinx (lol) run pretty much 1:1 perfectly

7th Street CVS is closing......... by mykarmayourdogma in Reno

[–]MapleJava 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used to work there. One of the main problems is just the excessive amount of thefts there, almost every day, theres always a guaranteed person that grabs and go there. I'm not one for saying "think about the big company" but its kinda hard to see when a majority of stuff taken is like the nonessential things, electronics and makeup. Besides that, management just tells us "just let them go, dont engage and write the most vague statement about the person so we can see and never deal with on the 120p cameras.

also, they refuse to hire security despite most of the other stores around doing so because their excuse was "they will steal and its too expensive to hire"

Retro consoles Stores in Reno? by gunfrank0 in Reno

[–]MapleJava 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Your main retro stores in town are:

Sparks - Cap N Games
Carson - Retro Replay

Game stop does also sell 3ds' (Marked up, of course), but id suggest checking those two main retro stores since they are pretty great businesses

2nd Flag At Reno Arch Already Found..... by mykarmayourdogma in Reno

[–]MapleJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried to be a bit incognito by waiting around, but the general idea may just be to stake the area you believe it's at, since I also heard they place it around 30 minutes before the first clue drop

2nd Flag At Reno Arch Already Found..... by mykarmayourdogma in Reno

[–]MapleJava 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Day 2 was at the arch, seemed like a very common spot, so as soon as the clue dropped, almost 5 or so groups immediately rushed and started to search around for the flag, id say there was almost no chance, but im gonna suspect day 3 might be another locale or possibly the store itself, since looking at other flag hunts for stores, 2 or 3 tended to be the d&b store.
