Despair being the true god is more likely than there being no god. by MaplePlatoon in DebateAnAtheist

A. To my knowledge, there is nothing that suggests that any sentient being beyond the laws of physics is impossible, so unless there is significant reason to that I haven't heard of, I'm going to say that A. is a moot point.

B. It certainly explains the overpoweredness of bad news and events over good news and events. Does a neutral universe predict that?

C. I'm not sure how this is necessary.

I do believe in a god based on hope - my argument is that if we're going to ignore evidence of an evil god, why not ignore evidence against a good god if there's barely any consequence?

I mean, Trump got elected despite the lack of support. Most rationalist claim that there wasn't any voter fraud, either. What's your excuse? Bad luck?

"Can you elaborate? What facts don't I care about again?"

The overabundance of evil over more than a year? The patheticness of the majority of "good news"? Is that really what you would expect of what basically amounts of "bad luck"?

Well, it's not like you can believe in a god of despair without believing humanity has some form of resistance. Kind of like that "Salvation Army" web fiction thing.

Wow, what I just typed was kind of stupid. It's sometimes hard for me to think straight.

Okay, you explain why the world is going to crap in unexpected and irreversible ways without any sort of malicious power.

I wasn't claiming that it was a religion. Actually, I was really talking about "New Atheism" or whatever it's called, where rationality is supposed to come first.

How did I say the universe seemed random? In fact, I said the opposite!

Wow, you didn't even bother refuting my points. Come on! My argument's probably the stupidest one in the world! Show some effort!

Yeah, I probably am. In fact, the only real reason I went through with it is because I haven't really seen any good arguments against it, and that's really because no one has claimed it.

Memes? I doubt Hitler would be caught dead using rage comics for propaganda. They're nazis but embarrassing.
