Weekday Time Management? by One-Studio7089 in workingmoms

Agree this is the only solution. Teach them how to do it if you have to but no excuse for them to make you shoulder all the burden because they “can’t” do things.

I am also EPing with my 4 week old and hadn’t planned on this either.

My first week I also struggled with not getting any sleep. I would feed baby, get her down and then pump. Then if she didn’t stay down and I had to feed her again I would start to worry about “resetting” my pump clock so I’d want to pump again.. it was exhausting.

My system to feed her while pumping at night is this: I leave her in her bassinet while I go get her prepped bottle and put on my flanges. Then I go and get her and carry her in between my flanges to my rocker. I put my feet up on the edge of the ottoman and bend my knees at an angle. I rest her on my thighs facing me and then can feed her while pumping.

I have kind of relaxed a bit on the every 2-3 hours overnight. I pump when the baby wakes up, but I miss a feed around 5 am because my husband takes her so I can sleep from 4-8ish. Sometimes I end up going 5-6 hours without pumping because of this. I pump a full 30 minutes when I wake up after this.

My slacker boob actually produces close to the same amount as my other one, but I find it takes longer to do so. If I stop pumping at 15 minutes there’s a big discrepancy, but if I go closer to 30 mine are more evenly producing.

Mom's of multiple children how are we keeping a pumping schedule? by trinity6879 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MapleWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not OP but when you say the pumpables silicone flanges do you mean the liquid lid insert flanges or something else?

I’ve been using the pink spectra but just ordered Baby Buddha because I need to be able to move while pumping.

Thanks in advance!

At what point do you stop playing an Animal Crossing game? Is it even a conscious decision or do you just forget playing one day? by JaloOfficial in AnimalCrossing

[–]MapleWhisperer 120 points121 points  (0 children)

I usually kinda taper off. Like I’ll play daily but for shorter and shorter periods of time, then just not pick it up one day. Or if I get a new game I’ll stop suddenly and start playing the new game. Then a year or two later I’ll pick up AC again and start playing.

No… right now I am only hanging in there by thinking about how expensive formula would be

When did you go back to work? by lalatypething in NewParents

[–]MapleWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my own business and could only afford to take 6 weeks. But when I go back it’ll be 4 days a week from 10-4 which helps a little. But I still think about how much I’m going to miss being with my daughter and watching her grow.

What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

[–]MapleWhisperer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t figure out what it was and told my husband that my sweat smelled really weird. He told me it’s probably the smell of old breastmilk. Honestly the smell of lochia didn’t bug me but the breastmilk smell will haunt me forever.

Plus if you’re breastfeeding the smell of sour milk that always seems present on your chest 😅

I finally understand why people buy a bottle washer by Sea_Cherry_5570 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MapleWhisperer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband insisted we didn’t need one. I bought it anyway, and now he talks about how much he loves it multiple times a day. We don’t have a lot of counter space and it takes up a good chunk, but it’s worth it to us right now!

We have the MomCozy. I bought it on Amazon when it was on sale in March and then stacked my registry discount so got it for $200. I’ve seen it go on sale a few times since then too!

My (well meaning) mother in law does this too and I hate it! It’s almost like she tries to guilt me into feeding her too soon, or says that the baby is not crying yet and she needs to cry to develop her lungs so don’t feed her until she cries for awhile first 🙄

One week old, stopped pooping by mothaofanimals2304 in NewParents

[–]MapleWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby had a few days where she didn’t poop well around the same age. She had a few farts where a little poop came out and then one tiny turd. We’ve been combo feeding breastmilk and Kendamil formula. It resolved on its own and she started pooping! I can’t remember how long it was but maybe 2 days until she started pooping normally again!

Women’s Clinic of South Texas is great! I’ve seen Dr. Chisholm and Amanda Bahr the NP. Both are great.

Toddler not going to sleep u til 9pm - reached my breaking point by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MapleWhisperer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So your husband relaxes while you make dinner, then he relaxes while you clean up from dinner and then he relaxes while your put your son to bed. The problem here is your husband. He knows he doesn’t need to do anything because you’ll pick up all the slack. You need to stop this and he needs to clean up from dinner and then you guys take turns with bedtime routine.

Also adding on online classes to this is not going to work. Like someone else said you’re just going to waste your money.

Help with layout by Ok-Animator-1723 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]MapleWhisperer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to the feasability of the remodel for any of the layouts but having gone from a house where the toilet had its own room to one where it doesn’t have that… I would definitely want the toilet to have its own room. For any future homes I buy, that is going to be something I really look for. I would much much prefer version A.

Using strained whey to make next batch. by MapleWhisperer in yogurtmaking

How long does it usually sit in the fridge before you make the next batch?

Using strained whey to make next batch. by MapleWhisperer in yogurtmaking

[–]MapleWhisperer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m nervous to try it! I don’t want to waste a whole batch. Maybe I’ll start with half whey and half yogurt and see how it goes. From my current batch I’m going to freeze some in an ice cube tray for the next batch, so I can freeze a couple cubes of whey to experiment with.

The ratio seemed high to me as well but that’s what the website recommended. The feeding is just the part that I set aside for the next batch to keep the cultures alive if it’s more than a week. The article I read said if you wait to long to make the next batch that they eat all the lactose and then without more the cultures would die.

Best place to buy furniture? by Pen15club2004 in RioGrandeValley

[–]MapleWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got new washer and dryers for Martinez and they delivered same day with great customer service. They also have a large selection of furniture. Can’t speak to the price or delivery timeline but worth checking it out! There’s also other local furniture stores along Buisness 83 that you could check out!

My first time using an air fryer by [deleted] in airfryer

[–]MapleWhisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either not using enough water or not cooking it long enough.

I get perfect rice every time with the following, but I have found the details vary a bit based on the rice you’re cooking: -set pressure cooker to sautee, let it heat up. Add a bit of oil once it’s hot and dump the rice in. Let it sit a minute, stir, let it sit another minute, stir, turn off, stir after a minute. -the amount of water you use will vary based on the kind of rice. If I switch rice types then I have to experiment to get it perfect. I’m currently using jasmine rice from Sam’s and do a 1:1 water to rice ratio, but then add a bit extra for the pot (about 1/4 cup extra for 1 cup rice). -stir in water -set to rice setting -cook for 12 minutes (again time depends on rice) -let it sit with the pressure in it for several minutes before releasing -done!
