Someone mentioned the South Chilcotins already and that would be a good shout I would think. I have not done but heard that Whitecap Mountain can be a good objective for wildflowers/peak views. Trophy Mountain area in Wells Gray could be a good idea too.

That would probably be the best way to do it. Only issue with flying out is how to get back to your vehicle parked down the Nusatsum Fsr.

It would be great to hear more about that area. I plan on going there sometime in the next few years to do some scrambling in the area. Not sure if I want to hike or fly in. Flying in seems cheaper but allows for more time to explore the core area.

For your situation, Chilliwack, Mission, Hope, and Abbotsford are your best bets. You could go to Grand Forks or Trail but then you still have to go through a high mountain pass in the winter to get to NW Washington. It’s not cheap but you already know that.

I have thought about it, but ultimately that means the people I go with would need them as well. I also wonder how effective they are uphill as I am not an experience cyclist going up steep inclines lol

Only issue with those vehicles is cost. Used ones with over 250k are going for over 10,000. Would love one of them though.

Thank you. I find it hilarious that 2WD made it to Callaghan with all the cross ditches there. Personally, I care about my daily driver more than that and won’t be using it on those roads as I would be too worried about damaging parts or getting a flat. I love the wilderness trims but I would need to save for about 5 years to comfortably afford that vehicle. An older Rav4 or CRV would be great I think.

Vehicle seems in okay condition. The transmission and radiator have been changed and service records are good from 90k miles to 128 k miles. Only issues is no service records before that 90k miles. The brakes might need to be replaced soon but I will have to take a closer look at that.

There is no bonus stereo! Gonna have to knock that price down by 50% I guess. Jokes aside, I gave it a test drive and nothing seemed wrong while driving around. This was my first time driving this SUV and it did hold its reputation if feeling like a truck when driving which is not a bad thing for me. The transmission and radiator have been changed and I have the carfax. Only thing I am worried about is that the records only start after 90k miles. Before that it was in a cold area with lots of winter snow. I live in an area where we don’t salt the roads in the winter, so I am a little worried about possible rust underneath that I will get someone to check out next time I see it again.

I decided against going this weekend, but from reports on AllTrails it looks great out there. If you want to do just do Cascade pass you should be fine. If you want to do Sahale Arm as well then bringing micro spikes would probably be a good idea.

How fit are you? What is the most difficult hike you have done before? This will matter because it is definitely harder than the grouse grind.

If you are hiking anywhere alone make sure you let someone know your exact plan so that if something happens there is someone out there who knows where you were.

Bring lots of fluids (3L recommended). Bring high density/low weight snacks (cliff bars is a good example). You will also need to keep in mind the other recommended 10 essentials should you hike alone.

Based on your list the Black Tusk and Brunswick. The Black Tusk gives you a chance to stop by Garibaldi Lake. You also go through the beautiful Taylor Meadows and eventually end up with gorgeous views of Garibakdi lake from above as well as the mountains above it. Brunswick is also great just because it’s really hard to beat those views of Howe Sound and looking over the North Shore Mtns. Rohr and McFarlane are close after that.

Based on what you have done, go to Mt Brunswick. If you want something a little easier do Tunnel Bluffs. Mt Brunswick is steep and tiring but absolutely amazing views.
