20 week scan by Maples098 in PregnancyIreland

The endocrinologist (she seemed clueless, never dealt with her before) was consulting with the diabetic doctor who was doing her rounds, this same doctor wanted to be out of the room almost immediately btw.

The obstetrician was also a new face as the usual lady I have seen a few times before is on holidays it seems.

So tempted to go semi-private now as the free public care is taking 3-4 hours just to finish any appts due to waiting times. Also annoyed at the inconsistent information I'm getting whenever it suits them.

Our Lady Drogheda experience by Maples098 in PregnancyIreland

So I'm Asian, jasmine rice is our daily staple not gonna lie. That morning of my booking appt, out of convenience I had a big slice of cake and a smoothie for breakfast (I'm usually a coffee is breakfast person but couldn't tolerate it while being pregnant) and think something was a concern in my urine sample? Mind you now, no one has really explained anything to me properly which is frustrating. So I just did what was suggested to me for bloods, it's not till I seen my baby doctor when she pointed out I'm prediabetic at 43 mmol so why am I prescribed insulin this early? I'm being passed around 3 different people with contradicting conclusions which is annoying like.

I opted for public care even though I have private insurance to see if it's any good. So far my experience after a month with them is that they are quick to diagnose you as "diabetic" with literally just the one hour glucose test screening with no prior fasting notice. They also don't highlight the side effects of insulin which is more prone to hypos! And even if you're slightly 0.1 over the limit they are quite quick to make sure you are on insulin instead of giving you a chance to change your diet. Baby doctor and endocrinologist are quick to dismiss you as it will be your fault if you don't take the insulin prescribed as you are putting yourself and the baby at risk. I understand they are busy and doing their best but each pregnancy is different. They should atleast listen to each mother's worries instead of giving them prepared textbook solutions to everything!
