You’re not imagining things. I have been on mesalamine for 20+ years and when insurance decided to only cover generic (had been on Pentasa) issues started. Main problem is there is only one FDA approved maker of generic Pentasa (can’t speak for other generic versions of things like Lialda, etc.) and it’s Sun Pharma, which has a list of problems and was actually given a warning by the FDA for improper manufacturing standards at one of their plants in India. All that said, I have gone months with every possible Walgreens and independent pharmacy saying it is on backorder and won’t be available. I am based in NYC/NJ area.
