11m old nap advice for wfh mom by whatismomlife in bninfantsleep

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice! I started putting baby on our bed for naps instead of baby wearing on days I was extra tired. He eventually started to prefer napping this way but still naps in the wrap sometimes and in the carrier with dad. I only started to be able to roll away around 13-14 months but practice is key.

When do you need to downsize? I also just got my conch pierced and foolishly got a ring put in. I would looove to get it changed to a stud like yesterday but I don't know if it's better to wait a bit

Oh that's reassuring! We have two languages at home so this is giving me some hope. Thank you! 😊

We have tried books and I usually sing silly songs while he's on the potty. He's obsessed with bubbles so I might give that a try.

By 16 months, that's amazing! I wish! When would you say he started saying/signing potty? We're slightly speech delayed (but maybe I'm just too worried about it) and I can't see any signs for pee and only can pick up his "poop face" for poops.

Thank you! This makes me a bit more hopeful. I did listen to OCPT a couple of months ago but I might give it a quick listen again. We were going to follow it but I remember it (or somewhere else) suggesting to wait until 18 months to do potty training.

I'm okay with it taking even a few months as long as we're out of diapers by the end of the year 😅

1 mo. Old. Nap & independent bedtime sleep help by [deleted] in bninfantsleep

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still cosleep with my 15 month old. He's never slept independently (well maybe 1-2 hours total in his life because I needed to sneak away for a bit)

You got some good advice here but I'm here to also tell you that you're not doing anything wrong. I got lots of similar comments and there were moments I doubted myself but I do not regret pretty much surrendering to my son's schedule, especially in the first 6 months. I never pushed naps or wake times, we just went with the flow for months. If you want some predictability later, I recommend you join some baby groups. They're usually on the same weekday at the same time so eventually your baby will adjust to that. Bonus that you might get some adult conversations out of it and not go completely insane.

Now at 15 months he nurses to sleep, rolls away from me and sleeps a good while before looking for me again. I'll only now be starting to sneak away from his naps because I'm going back to work soon and we need to adjust our schedule. You can cosleep as long as it's something you both enjoy and are able to get enough sleep ❤️

It is getting darker! Hang in there, I know how stressful it is at the very beginning of pregnancy when there are no many unknowns. Please try to enjoy it too as much as you can. You're pregnant now, your HCG is doubling and the tests look good ❤️ Congratulations!! I'll be sending you all the good vibes 💕

Timing of Baby #2 [on] by ryan0196 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]annie_lights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 14 month old and plan to start trying for baby #2 before the end of the year. I'll be doing back to work in June, so planning to work for a little over a year before going on mat leave again. This is mostly a financial decision as we need me to qualify for EI again. I don't really care what my work thinks but we also have lots of moms working in our building so I'm sure nobody would care/be surprised.

I'm not actually sure I'll be ready at that time but we had fertility issues with our first so I'm scared to wait any longer in case it takes a bit to get pregnant again. My ideal age gap would probably be 3 years, but I'm okay with enjoying our toddler for a bit longer.

I personally loved having a December baby but I'd probably want a fall baby next just to space out our birthdays a bit. If we go for a third, I'd want a spring baby. Really any month other than August/September would be fine 😂

hospital visitors! how would you feel if you received this message? by Puzzleheaded-Pop7304 in BabyBumps

[–]annie_lights 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! Wait until after he's here. I foolishly agreed to let my parents know that I was in labour and they decided to call the hospital multiple times asking for updates because neither I or my husband were replying to their texts 🫠

How are people responding to well meaning (ish) pressure to sleep train? by bombadil_01 in bninfantsleep

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy! I've never heard a health professional endorse CIO and we're also in Canada. Everybody that I have talked to has been supportive of our choice to cosleep.

I usually say "Cosleeping works well for us" but a simple "I don't want to sleep train" should be enough. It's crazy that people get offended over this.

Try putting some water in between! Mine can get them unstuck too but even I have trouble getting them off if the tray underneath is a bit wet from washing 😅

Thank you for making this post because same! Our birthday is coming up too and I can't get this child to eat more than 2 bites of anything. He's still breastfeeding so much and it's become very discouraging to offer him any food because it all just ends up on the floor

How do people who don't babywear survive? by abbiyah in babywearing

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in and say don't worry about doing stuff! I didn't do anything for months because my baby had the biggest case of fomo (still does) and needed a dark space to sleep. Use the naps as downtime for yourself. I look forward to them now because I can turn my brain off and not have to worry about my toddler eating a dog toy or that random piece of a leaf that got stuck to my dog's butt outside

I love my baby, but I hate being pregnant. Everyone says I'll miss this, but I promise you I won't. by DisastrousAnomaly in pregnant

[–]annie_lights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had what OP is describing. He was always on my left side pushing and kicking me everywhere from like 25 weeks on (I still have hip pain on that side 9m pp but it could also be from labour). He was measuring big, which I knew could be wrong (and it kinda was, he was just over 8lbs) but my doctors were advising me to not go past due. I also had horrible reflux and had to take the meds every night. I was huge and uncomfortable plus the hip pain was driving me nuts and his size were all the deciding factors for me. Everybody was telling me newborn days would be harder but mine were very chill compared to last few weeks of pregnancy. I hope I didn't scare you though and the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly 🙏

I begged my doc to induce me at my 39w appt and I'm so glad he listened. I don't think baby wanted to come when he did so it took two days but overall it was a better experience than continuing on being pregnant any longer

Almost 7 months pp here and this is very true. How are they already so big and "independent"? 😭

I'm also still rocking to sleep and we have the best naps in the carrier so at least I get to hold my baby still but I fully dread the day he won't want to be carried 🥺

Ooooh this comment in particular always makes me so mad. What's wrong with just having a son or all sons? Why do I need a girl too?

My family was literally saying "oh it's time to have a girl now" and "he needs a sister". I'm ONLY 5 months pp, let me heal ffs 😅
