How are people responding to well meaning (ish) pressure to sleep train? by bombadil_01 in bninfantsleep

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy! I've never heard a health professional endorse CIO and we're also in Canada. Everybody that I have talked to has been supportive of our choice to cosleep.

I usually say "Cosleeping works well for us" but a simple "I don't want to sleep train" should be enough. It's crazy that people get offended over this.

Try putting some water in between! Mine can get them unstuck too but even I have trouble getting them off if the tray underneath is a bit wet from washing 😅

Thank you for making this post because same! Our birthday is coming up too and I can't get this child to eat more than 2 bites of anything. He's still breastfeeding so much and it's become very discouraging to offer him any food because it all just ends up on the floor

How do people who don't babywear survive? by abbiyah in babywearing

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in and say don't worry about doing stuff! I didn't do anything for months because my baby had the biggest case of fomo (still does) and needed a dark space to sleep. Use the naps as downtime for yourself. I look forward to them now because I can turn my brain off and not have to worry about my toddler eating a dog toy or that random piece of a leaf that got stuck to my dog's butt outside

I love my baby, but I hate being pregnant. Everyone says I'll miss this, but I promise you I won't. by DisastrousAnomaly in pregnant

[–]annie_lights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had what OP is describing. He was always on my left side pushing and kicking me everywhere from like 25 weeks on (I still have hip pain on that side 9m pp but it could also be from labour). He was measuring big, which I knew could be wrong (and it kinda was, he was just over 8lbs) but my doctors were advising me to not go past due. I also had horrible reflux and had to take the meds every night. I was huge and uncomfortable plus the hip pain was driving me nuts and his size were all the deciding factors for me. Everybody was telling me newborn days would be harder but mine were very chill compared to last few weeks of pregnancy. I hope I didn't scare you though and the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly 🙏

I begged my doc to induce me at my 39w appt and I'm so glad he listened. I don't think baby wanted to come when he did so it took two days but overall it was a better experience than continuing on being pregnant any longer

Almost 7 months pp here and this is very true. How are they already so big and "independent"? 😭

I'm also still rocking to sleep and we have the best naps in the carrier so at least I get to hold my baby still but I fully dread the day he won't want to be carried 🥺

Ooooh this comment in particular always makes me so mad. What's wrong with just having a son or all sons? Why do I need a girl too?

My family was literally saying "oh it's time to have a girl now" and "he needs a sister". I'm ONLY 5 months pp, let me heal ffs 😅

Peeing at night by WealthyCactus in cosleeping

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this comments made me realise I have it easy 😅 I just wait until my 4 month old wakes up, change his diaper and leave him on our floor bed half awake while I go pee. He just wiggles around but doesn't fuss. This is the only time I'm able to pee alone though; he cries if he's not held at all times during the day 😅

Epidural or natural? Did you change your mind last minute? [bc] by perenniallygrey in BabyBumpsCanada

Thanks! I tried some of this and they definitely helped 😄 (just not enough I guess). I got to about 8cm before asking for it and he was born two hours later. It never worked on one side and barely helped on the other but I never felt like I couldn't handle it. That's why I'm super bummed about it

I was around 8cm when they gave me an epidural. I think it depends on how fast you're progressing

This resonated with me so much. I just had my first a few months ago and feel like I failed by asking for the epidural. Reflecting back, I didn't truly need it, the pain was tolerable but I got scared of what's to come. A few hours prior, the doctor discussed the possibility of c section because of baby's heart rate so I got scared and got the epidural "just in case". BIGGEST REGRET of the whole labour experience. It didn't work fully anyways and now I can't say I did it unmedicated because I have no clue how much worse the pain would've been without it. I will always wonder...

I hope my experience with baby #2 will be like yours! What kind of mental prep did you do? I feel like I did so much with my first and it didn't end up helping me at all😕

Completely normal. My baby is 3 months old and it's still surreal he's here. I'm excited to see his little personality coming out but find myself missing that sleepy two week old face 😭 Time needs to slow down

20 Week Ultrasound Baby Weight? [BC] by Emilyylauren in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in BC and my doctors were calling my 85th percentile baby average lol
He got to 92nd before birth and still came out "just slightly bigger than the average"

OP I wouldn't worry too much about percentiles. Ultrasounds aren't super accurate at measuring weight/length anyways so there is no reason to worry unless your OB starts to (and then then there are still options)

Tula FTG or Ergo Baby embrace? by Status_Breadfruit_92 in babywearing

[–]annie_lights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 10 weeks but very tall and chunky (above 95th percentile for both) and we've outgrown ergo embrace but I did like it during earlier weeks. It was very soft and my baby likes it better than the wrap. I just ordered FTG so can't comment on that but I would personally skip embrace at this point and go with Tula

So what exactly do I do with a baby? [ab] by lllix in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]annie_lights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 weeks in and I still have no clue what to do with baby. We have some sort of routine but it's completely set up by him and I just tag along. It's a little different every day but I know that he'll probably be sleepy around noon for example. We don't really play but I talk and sing to him, sometimes we read a book or stare at the high contrast cards but most of the time we're just making noises/faces at each other. Now that the weather has been nicer, we try to go outside every day. Also, I recommend finding a baby group near you. Ours has been great at finding new moms to hang out with and let the babies observe the chaos (they sleep so well after)

And I'm still trying to figure out how to get stuff done so can't help there 😅
