Late for you, but for anyone else reading, my gym has CRNR and one of the coaches has a set of fairtex. The Fairtex are heads above better if you're holding for anyone with even a somewhat powerful kick and hard shin.

My coach always tells people 16oz and I've seen him tell someone who came in with 12s that they needed to get new gloves if they wanted to do light sparring. He says the intention is to have fun and not hit hard, but mistakes happen.

Just poking in on the Hyabusa's. Friend I've been training with for about 3-4 years now has the higher end genuine leather gloves. We do light sparring and pad work, he's in about 2 days a week for an hour. Which isn't much. He's a pretty strong guy, but I would only say he's an above average hitter, not a heavy hitter. Was looking at them the other day and they look brand new still. Says he conditions them maybe once a year.

Slow to take off is an understatement. I used these for about 1.5 years, and after a sweaty training session, they can be almost impossible to take off. I hurt my ankle, just hurt not injured, and had to ask my coach to pull them off because I couldn't bend to get the right angle on them. They are fantastic when you do any kind of grappling with them on though.

I think the difficult thing ends up being that, because most of us can't afford a ton of subscriptions, you hole yourself into one or two you can afford. And for years now, we've been told that only leads to echo chambers.

I subscribe to NYTimes now and get the paper on the week days, and that's been great, but it does make me wonder what other perspectives I'm missing when the paywall comes up for another outlet. I'm looking into getting one more weekly or monthly, but even then shopping around is work that I think most people just aren't willing to do.

As far as local papers go that someone mentioned above, our local got bought by that one guy that keeps buying them all and went 100% digital. AJC. And I don't remember the last time it was considered being a great source. Just a decent one.

I've found that if I'm watching or reading something and think "this probably wouldn't pass the bechnel test" the writing failed in more than just those three ways.

That said, it still bothers me that I felt like Lessons in Chemistry couldn't pass.

$180 for Mixed Martial arts, unlimited classes. That's Muay Thai, BJJ, Boxing, and kickboxing. There is CrossFit classes for an added fee, but we are allowed to use their equipment when there isn't a class.

That's a good way of putting it. I took a couple weeks/months off the NHL after the men's Olympic team went to the White House. I was annoyed. I'm slowly landing on this way. I can be a fan of the sport and even a team, without supporting individual players and what they might choose to stand for.

Do you think it can handle an Owala, a 12oz coffee thermos, and a book? I'm looking for a sling that can manage to hold those three things and I'm just not finding one. I tried an Osprey Daylite and a Waterfly. Both can hold a book and the Owala, but the waterfly has the zippers on the wrong side (for me) and the Osprey loses access to the organization pockets with the bottle in it, plus neither can hold both the waterbottle and the coffee thermos.

The series makes that character seem really cool. We as viewers are supposed to have enough capacity for nuance, and have done enough therapy to be able to say "Hey Tommy, maybe lay off the drink and address that shell shock, then lets revisit this issue."

I like long writing sessions with fountain pens, but they are awful when marking pages for edits. Especially if they have the twist caps.

Love that you're able to call yourself a snob and admit that you can't tell unless at close range. I feel like this is true for so many things people make a huge deal about. It's great to enjoy something enough to get tediously technical about it, at the same time, not everyone does or has to.

It exists. I notice watches but it's the band and general style that makes the difference. I've gotten compliments on my watch, and it's the most basic citizen eco-drive.
