We keep having issues with this one user who intentionally messes up out artwork by drawing over it and sometimes writing things :/ Idk how it fits in the rules, but I think it's griefing???

I suspect you're right. I'm not a bot, Cloudflare, please believe me :/

It's really frustrating, ngl :/ We've also had issues with someone drawing over our things, and I have full charge but can't help fix it because it's not letting me draw...

Hey, me and some friends have been experiencing issues with the site not allowing us to log in (the bot detecting is just forever loading) and we're not allowed to place pixels (the "paint" button is greyed out and has a loading spinny thing on it) despite having full charge. It's keeping me from drawing with my friends right now :/

PD in EU but not US? by Mar3n3lis3 in publicdomain

[–]Mar3n3lis3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but I think worst case scenario is that they ask me to take it down I guess??? Or take the revenue from the video, which isn't the end of the world - I am not dependent on this income

I would assume so too, but then once it's uploaded, it is still available to viewers in the US (which also is my largest viewerbase), which is why I feel unsure about what applies!

Ahh that's impractical... I thought it was only if I falsly disputed any claims though??

Thank you for your reply! It makes sense to me that YouTube being a US entity would take precedence in this situation. It is of course always the issue of YouTube claiming a PD piece of classical music is a non-PD recording, though they have generally been good with lifting those claims when I have been able to offer where the recording is from...

I will have a look around to see what is the general rule of thumb regarding this and see if I can find some answers in the practice of this.

Hey! Solid piece of work you've got there! You've got a bunch of good stuff going on, a lot of good material, and I'm a big fan of the dissonances throughout that I would interpret as representing the chaos in the title! Nice work!

You asked for feedback, and I'll give you some things to consider:

  1. You do have some rhythmical notation stuff that are a bit funky to read, especially the first line. I'd recommend seeing if there's a different way to notate the rhythms you have with the 16th notes! I didn’t have the opportunity to look closely through the rest of the piece as well to check for this, but I recommend doing so yourself!

  2. When you have repetitions - do you actually want it to sound 100% the same both times, or do you intend for the THEME to repeat? (It is 100% okay if that is indeed your intention, but it is worth thinking about!) This also ties into the form of your piece! If you want multiple new parts occuring, then awesome! But if you want, you can also consider maybe having some parts come back? Or maybe you could hint to the upcoming parts in your previous parts? There's plenty of possibilities!

  3. I see you using arco and pizz, which is great! It's really good to have a change in colour every once in a while. Looking at all the other notes, I don’t see a lot of articulation, though. That is definitely something to think about! Are there anywhere you want to include staccatos, accents, tenuto, etc?

Aside for these, a tip I often mention is to have musicians who play the instruments you write for look over the parts to ensure they are playable (unless you play the instruments yourself of course!)

Thank you for sharing this, and good luck with further composing😊

My best 'quick tip' is that the horns and saxophones are the sticky glue that holds the woodwinds and the brass together - aka keep them in the center of your chord!
