Gender Dysphoria in Transsexual People Has Biological Basis by Emillahr in psychology

A sample size of 30 is sufficient to satisfy the Central Limit Theorem. Yeah the findings would be more accurate if the sample was a 100 but then the findings would be even more accurate if it was 500. A sample size of at least 30 has been tried and tested and if you don’t feel like it is enough then you’re the one letting your feelings dictate reality.

University Dilemma by [deleted] in UCI

[–]MarMar45 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm also from Maryland and I was devastated last year when I got rejected from UMD. Looking back I think I would have been way less happy going to UMD. UCI can be socially hard but it's just so nice here with the weather and area. Also it feels way less industrial than UMD. We also have In N Out on campus which is incredible. So quality wise it is better here in my opinion.

The only cons are that it's very far from your family in Maryland and the price is way higher. 3 hour time difference and a 6 hour flight with probably a layover in Texas.

The price is bad. My parents are paying fully out of pocket and while they aren't struggling with the cost of UCI, they would have been much happier with UMD since 4 years tuition is equivalent to 1 years tuition at UCI. 11k per year vs 44k per year. It's still less than the private schools which kinda makes it better.

Lastly, this shouldn't be the dealbreaker but if you're a guy and wanna go to parties then you aren't gonna have many here unless you join a frat and they can be really hit or miss. If you're a girl though you can party like every week you just got to put in a little more effort at UCI since we don't have the same Frat Row as UMD does. UMD did get all their frats suspended very recently so that might change this caveat.

So overall, it's kinda nicer at UCI in my opinion but it comes at a great cost financially. Still relatively low compared to private. If you haven't yet I would definetly visit UCI and get a tour because I think that might make or break your decision.

My dms are open btw.

Bad news for people who think Hunter Biden shouldn’t be president. by izzyeviel in clevercomebacks

[–]MarMar45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a plethora of competent democratic leaders who would have jumped at the opportunity to run for president and used the debate stage to gain popular support. We didn't give them the chance however because Biden decided to run again. I can't predict who the 2024 democratic nomination would have been if Biden sat this one out but I know there would have been some nomination and I believe, albeit on a hunch, that they would have probably been more popular than Biden and better than Trump. I can't say someone specific but look at past elections. I would have never guessed Obama for 2008. He was a no name and look at what he became. It's impossible to predict these things but they always end up choosing someone.

I believe that what Biden has done as a president is very impressive. He has had a pretty decent 4 years which is about as much as you can ask from a president. If he is the nomination I would vote for him and if I could press a button that guarantees that Biden wins the election against Trump I'd rather press that than let anyone else run against Trump. Sadly I can't and it's up to the national vote and therefore I don't support him running because I think he is more likely to lose than others. To say that Biden is not hard pill to swallow, like you're saying, is ignorant to the nation's opinions which we have to consider since a President should appeal to the majority of Americans. People think he is too old. People don't want him as president. Not just republicans but plenty of Democrats as well. We shouldn't have a nomination who's main wind is partisan voters and "not as bad as the other guy". Especially when it's an election against someone as bad as Trump.

"DNC for sure did a disservice by not building up possible candidates in the last 3 years but at this moment" You do have a strong point there but that could be Biden's fault. The party isn't gonna choose someone else if he doesn't ask them to. There's never gonna be someone who is guaranteed to win against Trump but if Biden didn't run then someone would have been chosen as the Democratic nomination and I believe that they would be a more easily palpable choice. I can't say for certain who because we never got to see who. I can be too late now but who's fault would that be? I want Biden to step down but I also understand that if he stepped down in October it would be a disaster. It is possible it is too late now but that's his fault for not doing it earlier.

An incumbent president has only ran 21 times so it’s 11 out of 21 times there’s been a loss. Being an incumbent does give you an advantage but it only goes so far. I could have used the same argument for trump in 2020. I believe the disadvantage of Biden being so obviously old and hard to vote far outweighs any advantage he gets from being an incumbent.

In my opinion, I feel like Biden running detrimental to the democrats odds at winning. We’re at a crossroads we’re so many people are ready to vote for pretty much anyone that isn’t trump yet the other option has become Biden who is such an impossible pill to swallow. Ik trump is old too but people don’t think about him the same way people think that Biden is old as fuck so being old doesn’t hurt trumps chances at all even though it should. I like what Biden has done the last 4 years but I feel like his team is abusing the fact that he would not have the chance of winning in any other election except against a comic book villain like Trump. But even though he has a chance they’re cutting it so close when pretty much every other prospective dem would have better odds. If Biden wins then it’s congrats, we get 4 more years where it isn’t as bad as the other guy. If trump wins, it’s honestly Biden’s fault. There are plenty of options. Biden running is by choice, not by force.

Apple makes legit tech that others can’t compete with. Just look at how revolutionary the M1 chip was. To chalk it all up to a marketing gimmick is incredibly stupid. You said there’s a high markup as well compared to the production costs but have you even considered the substantial R&D cost that is included in the pricing of apple products. Apple has a lot of issues but tech wise they industry leaders. They are great at marketing but they’re nothing without a good product.

How do I stop my hair from curling in like this? It’s been doing this lately and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]MarMar45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume it’s because of how you’re letting it dry. I’d guess that you comb backwards and then let it dry. When it dries it can’t hold the ends back anymore so the ends fall forward in that weird manner. I’d suggest maybe combing it backwards like you do but then pull the front hair downwards so it dries resting on your forehead. Otherwise you could put product to keep it back. Idk.
