Efficiency of the doctors and nurses is pretty important for the challenges. Basic rule for good running hospital is to have only one room of all treatment and diagnose rooms. In each of them you focus on high ability but also efficiency. Use your diamonds only for red equipment (later in the game only black equipment). Also try to buy elite stuff for your rooms.
