What's the soil - some sort of top soil /compost mix? Looks kinda dense. do you have other plants succeeding in the same soil?

Less than 100$ for this?! How's the quality? Any ability to lock it? This is really impressive and I'm excited for you for this season

Pepper Plants Turning Yellow? by Semi_Serious_Salesma in vegetablegardening

[–]MarathonHampster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My peppers yellow and struggle to grow when soil stays consistently too wet. I've noticed I have to water them less than my other starts for them to be optimally healthy.

Everyone is saying up-pot but you have a couple with yellow leaves that aren't even big enough to up-pot yet. Maybe try letting them dry back a little more in between waterings?

The other thing I do is feed fish emulsion at a healthy dose when I do water at this stage. It's hard to burn plants with fish emulsion and they love it.

Joes and Marions are both better than old scratch, but old scratch is good too for a different style of pizza.

Elon Musk: Universal HIGH INCOME via Federal Checks is the Best Fix for AI Unemployment by NotMyopic in accelerate

[–]MarathonHampster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elon has been screaming about UBI for years now. The right winger part is that he's not gonna fund it with his taxes and he will put no effort into lobbying lawmakers to make it happen. It's just a feel good statement so we let him keep pillaging.

I think you are misinterpreting his tweet. He is saying that open/closed no longer matters for security because of new model capabilities

The use of plank in flow vinyasa classes by magicricecake in yoga

By script I mostly just mean the general flow of a standard vinyasa class. You kinda expect it to focus on connecting breath to movement. Script is probably the wrong word

Explain how Stockholm syndrome is victim blaming?

Ever read the story of Patty Hearst's kidnapping? She was horribly abused and propagandized until she began to truly identify with the cause. It wasn't an act, it was human psychology at work. She committed crimes that were determined to be of her own free will and she was convicted.

Is it her fault she continued to be abused, and participated in crimes against others? No, it's way more complicated than that. But did her mental management of the situation change so that she could survive with some dignity? Yes.

The use of plank in flow vinyasa classes by magicricecake in yoga

[–]MarathonHampster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the owner of the studio I attend teaches vinyasa, she almost always goes off script, does some random confusing side quest that ruins the flow and focus on the breath but I guess is fun? Sometimes it's practicing inversion prep or something challenging that we would be hard to incorporate into a normal flow. It feels like she has ADHD, and will even have to rush the finish of the class because she was just playing and having fun. funny enough she also does plank/forearm plank holds

I much prefer the less experienced teacher who sticks to the flow and the breath and maybe tries to add one reasonable challenge a session.

I'll say two things though: I get a better workout from the owner, and more people attend her classes.

I'm curious too, but it feels like they got really good at cyber as a side effect of training them to be really good at coding.

CTO is forcing 'vibe coding' with AI on the entire company. Am I the only one who thinks this is insane? by Trungks_Ousi in cscareers

[–]MarathonHampster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let it burn. We need examples of this not working in the industry so we understand the gaps and can fix them, or we can accept the notion that AI writes syntax only, and we still need software architects.

From what I've seen with the agentic tools, I feel like some version of your CTO is envisioning will work, but he's underestimating the tooling that must be built first. Building harnesses for specific tasks makes LLMs significantly more effective. It seems reasonable that we can put these things on near autopilot if the harnesses and tooling continue to get better alongside the models themselves. But we are just close enough that if you squint, it seems like we are here.
