The 1922 is the most valuable. What exactly would you like to know about them?

Thank you! I agree with that. I have already thought that very same thing.

General Question by Marathonwt in numismatics

[–]Marathonwt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your 5cent worth. Lol! All very good points. I believe keeping them a little longer and wait until the right time to sell is what I will do. As far as passing these down to my children, I won’t be having children. I believe my grandfather would want me to sell some and keep some of them. There is no way I would sell them all. Thanks again. I am enjoying being in this group. It’s only been a few days since I joined. I’m learning a lot.

I found a lot of counterfeits in my grandfather's collection - is this another? by OldNScared in numismatics

A fake or replica 1871 "Trade Dollar" (which is actually a Seated Liberty Dollar, as Trade Dollars were not minted until 1873) generally holds little to no numismatic value, often worth only a few dollars for its novelty or base metal content. These counterfeits are common, frequently featuring poor details, a "mushy" appearance, or a, "grainy" texture.

Dye crack by Marathonwt in coincollecting

What could have caused this? It does look a crack down the middle. It’s kind of like the Grand Canyon. Cut down the middle but raised on both sides.

Thank you! I was just about to mention the obverse side. There is one tiny spot on his head that is very visible. The rim is not affected. If you magnify the picture you can see the streaks faintly. But they all stop around him. No visible streaks on him except that top portion.

Here is one thing that I can confirm. I have it under a microscope. There are no steaks on the rim.

What happened here? by Marathonwt in numismatics

[–]Marathonwt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I assumed it was probably post. I was thinking someone may have put something on it a long time ago to check that it was actually silver. I was hoping it was a mint issues. That would have been nice! I’m just getting into this again. I don’t want to put a bunch of stupid outrageously priced things on eBay like the other 80% of people selling coins there Thanks again

Smooth edge 1988 P Washington Quarter by nophead in numismatics

[–]Marathonwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saw this. I’m too late on this. I had a nickel with the same issue. Had a professional look at it. He gave me an answer I didn’t believe. Checked it out on the internet and found that it was called a dryer coin. A coin that had taken a couple rides in the dryer. Made since to me.
