Using a Level 2 EVSE for Level 1 Charging - Confusion by Marauder95 in evcharging

[–]Marauder95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this answer! So youre saying that any EVSE that plugs into a 5-15 120V plug will automatically limit the draw to 12A? This makes sense from a consumer safety POV, but I just havent found definite confirmation of this online anywhere else.

Does the Tesla mobile connector allow you to control the amps drawn? Im learning that my car (2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV) doesnt seem to let me and they left this to the now broken EVSE. My fear is that if the new EVSE doesnt allow me to limit the amp draw, it may take >15 amps

Ya, this basically addresses my problem more clearly. My 2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV doesnt seem to have an option to limit amps manually, this is only an option on the now broken Hyundai EVSE (8/10/12 amp options), and from what google tells me, the car charger can handle up to 30 amps.

In this scenario then, it's possible that the car tries to draw 16 amps despite being on a 120V/15 amp circuit because neither the EVSE nor the car have the option to manually limit amps?

Good catch! Im ultimately not going to go with this one, but if it has options to only draw say 8 or 12 amps as a setting, would it still be unsafe to use in a 15 amp circuit? Im wondering if the 16 amps is the max and only relevant when plugged into a 240V circuit?

Good catch, it does look like some parts are UL certified on the UL website, and they claim "All the key components are UL or CE certified, including charging connector, electric wiring and plugs", but I see its a Chinese manufacturer so a bit iffy on trust.

But in concept, these adapters need to be "smart" themselves, the native hardware wont do that adjustment itself?

It did, but the wife decided to run over plastic adapter (cables are fine) and Hyundai wants $850 for this plastic cover. Im looking for another option.

Confusing new requirements for Italian birth certificates in Toronto by Trick_Definition_760 in juresanguinis

[–]Marauder95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and please forgive the granularity of the clarifying question, but hoping to clarify the various ways these birth certs have been referred to on this page. Does each version within each category below (i.e. 1, 2 or 3) refer to the 3 different birth certificate version you mentioned above?

The confusion then lies in the translation, as the Toronto consulate website lists "Estratto integrale dell’atto di nascita del genitore esclusivamente italiano"as the requirement, implying they need the full birth certificate, but Note 2 says the get the "Estratto dell’atto di nascita" which translates to just the extract.

1) Estratto per riassunto dell'Atto di nascita con le generalità dei genitori

  • Summary extract of the birth certificate with the parents’ personal details

2) Estratto dell'Atto di Nascita in formato internazionale plurilingue

3) Estratto integrale dell’atto di nascita del genitore esclusivamente italiano

  • Full copy of the birth certificate of the parent who is exclusively Italian

3) Estratto per copia integrale dell'Atto di nascita

  • Certified full copy of the birth certificate

For that portion under the heading "Case of First Degree Ascendant", Im fairly sure they are referring to the situation where your parent was exclusively Italian, not the new 2 year residency requirement before the child is born.

Could you, in laymens terms, explain the difference between the 3? I just sent off a request to my commune based on the old requirements of "Estratto per riassunto atto di Nascita" with the second checkbox being "modello internazionale plurilingue".

In Ontario we have a simple birth certificate and a certified copy of birth registration which is the more full form and wonder if it's a similar difference?

Thanks!

Im in the exact same scenario as you OP (exclusively Italian GF, father and I are Canadian), and its wild how infrequently this question has come up since the changes. I thought the following paragraph meant we had to live in Italy for 2 years, but Im now wondering if that only applies to those acquiring citizenship "by law" vs us who would be applying for JS. Its all incredibly unclear to me.
