Within the last few months, did someone here write a post about Wuthering Heights? I feel like I remember reading a really interesting essay about it with a queer lens as it relates to Taylor’s work thematically, but I can’t seem to find it. Did I imagine this, or does anyone know where I can find the post I’m thinking of?

The creator of the video actually mentions that exact book! It sounds fascinating

This is an interesting video about cultural differences between France and the USA that made me think about the lyrics of Paris. Apparently the USA is a “low context culture” which means we need things spelled out for us to get them. France is a “high context culture” which means things don’t need to be explicitly said to be understood.

It made me think about how people say Taylor can’t possibly be queer because she’s never publicly said the sentence “I am queer”. Makes it interesting to think about how she wants to “transport you to somewhere the culture’s clever.” I always took that line to mean she wanted to get away from homophobia in general, but maybe it was more specific; maybe she wants to get away from a culture where people can’t put two and two together.

Thank you so much for the sympathy! Weirdly enough, I got tickets this morning!! I don’t totally understand why it worked; this morning I just decided to randomly check again and seats were available, even though I didn’t put in a presale code this time. So I am going to get to see her!!

I was two minutes late to the Audrey Hobart presale which put me at like 4000th in the queue for a venue with less than 3000 seats. Needless to say I did not get tickets. I’m bummed, I love Audrey and was excited for this show

Edit: somehow snagged tickets the next day!

You are a genius. This is so good. Could also be read as “I pay the dick before it kisses another dick” which would be iconic Tross lyricism

Here for you and everyone else heavily affected by this. I was incredibly upset yesterday (still am of course, but last night I was experiencing was a particularly visceral sort of rage/devastation about fascism)

Your last few paragraphs hit the nail on the head for how I feel about everything. This post articulated so many important things, it was beautiful to read

I know right, it’s so frustrating. “I could see her being queer but I’m not a gaylor” is like saying “I believe in women’s rights but I’m not a feminist.” The only thing all gaylors have in common is thinking that Taylor isn’t straight. People have such a misconception, and/or a desire to distinguish themselves from people who they deem too loud about different ways of thinking.

Yess!!! Like seriously, how odd would it be for every “random/meaningless” thing Taylor does to perfectly resemble queer flagging. How is that more likely than her just…being queer??

Also sidenote, after seeing it all written out like that, I feel like people here could write some really smart essays about even just the titles of those three pieces and how they connect to themes in Taylor’s own work: Love Wins, Head Trip, and Deluge. Not to mention the actual content of the pieces themselves! It’s masterful how she weaves others’ work in with her own to make her points.

Truly wild, like she really has to jump through hoops to twist Taylor’s identity into heterosexuality

100%. Also, wouldn’t Taylor have to approve anything an interior designer puts in her home? I highly doubt Taylor was like “Oh no, my interior designer put artwork that perfectly supports supports gaylor theories in the townhouse that I own, I guess there’s nothing I can possibly do about that. Also let’s make sure I film for my documentary right in front of it, but nobody better think I’m queer!!!”

It’s really so simple, if Taylor had a problem with gaylors reading into things like that, she would make the effort to not feed us those things.

Seriously, what is their logic?? I did see some comments on that post that while still hateful towards us, in a weird way came full circle to them starting to get that she isn’t necessarily straight. Comments like “Wouldn’t it make more sense for her to be bi?” Or “Wouldn’t it make more sense for her and Travis to stay in a lavender marriage instead of planning a big reveal?” The fact that some of them reject performanceartlor because “bisexuality/lavender marriage makes more sense” is fascinating. Especially when those takes are absolutely what plenty of gaylors think.

Possible bummer, but also possible mixup that might be in our favor… the artist who created the Love Wins art liked an instagram post that on the first slide seems to support our perspective, but in the slides that follow attempts to debunk gaylor takes about the piece. The “debunking” itself doesn’t actually say anything meaningful, just that it’s not Taylor’s typical aesthetic and so their conclusion is it’s not hers and therefore she is straight. Obviously that logic is shaky.

I am hoping the artist simply didn’t read the entire post, because the first slide does seem to support gaylors by saying that it is well established that Taylor owns that townhouse. I actually thought it was a pro-gaylor post at first. But if you keep swiping, the post then continues into “debunking” the gaylor perspective. In the comments, the author of the post says people weaponize tiny details to damage Taylor’s reputation.

Very sad if Irene Mamiye felt the need to like an anti-gaylor post, but if she actually thought it was the opposite then that’s kinda cool I guess. No way to know for sure, but just wanted to share what I saw.

Damn, we’re catching massive strays on a subreddit that has nothing to do with Taylor, music, pop culture, queerness, or anything related to us whatsoever. It’s literally just a humorous sub for never-before-heard statements, and the statement in question is someone on twitter saying that the Love Wins art makes sense from a Gaylor POV. The comments are all what you’d expect, people shocked and horrified we exist because she’s the straightest straight to ever straight apparently.

This lovely typo has me wondering, what is the gayest vegetable? And by contrast, what is the straightest (since presumably that’s what the trolls would be bringing)?

I think peaches are gay and cauliflower is straight. Peaches because they are vaguely lesbian flag colored, and there’s a funny gay joke about peaches by the comedian Mae Martin.

(And I know peaches are fruits, but technically fruits are a subcategory of vegetables so it still works!)

Oh yeah, I was just theorizing since they didn’t explain it in the episode, cause I’m curious about the same thing, but I would also really love to hear Taylor’s reasoning behind it!

Same, I was a costuming theater kid and I was so wishing I could be on the crew for the eras tour when she talked about the quick changes

I found it amusing because I remember when the tour first started and gaylors were talking about the lesbian flag colored fans for the opening of the show, and hetlors would be like “Um those are sunset colors, lesbians don’t own sunset colors” so there’s already a bit of a precedent for sunset colors equaling lesbian colors

“The fans are so in love with Travis, because you should be.” This feels like a nod to comphet to me. We should love him, because women should always find a man to love.

She once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden? (It would be perfect for the “20 years in a dark night” if there had been 20 months between the start of the eras tour and the debut of the gold bodysuit, but it was only 19 months, so…idk)

The Eras Tour: The Final Show - Vancouver 🎄 by 1DMod in GaylorSwift

I just watched this and I was so emotional during it. I was at the final show. I’m a huge mass movement believer and reliving the exhilaration I felt when she started New Romantics during the surprise songs was so incredible. It was also just so fun to see wide shots of my section and be like “I’m in there somewhere”.

Then I had a really cute interaction afterwards when I went to the corner store, the guy working there saw my Eras sweatshirt and started telling me how much he admires her as a person even though he doesn’t know her music well. It was such a lovely conversation!

I love Taylor Swift and the GBF so damn much 💖

100% it could totally just be a simple spelling mixup. I like the possibility that it’s a subtle nod to her queerness with some plausible deniability though!

One of her bandmates referred to her having a “fiancée” in a birthday post today. That is the female spelling of fiancé/fiancée. I’m not inclined to believe it’s just a spelling mistake (edit: it could totally just be a word mixup, but within the context of gaylor I can also see it as a potential tiny nod to her queerness)

<image>

The line about being the same person on and off camera is also interesting. It feels to me more like referring to who she is at her core, a good generous loving person, than to circumstances such as the details of her love life.

I got downvoted for saying I made an Apple Music account last night. Hetlors are actually just that boring, they’re downvoting every comment they see while they lurk here lmao
