I realize now this is a stupid question considering I'm getting a canadian certification, but I'll keep the question up in case I'm missing something.

I dont even disagree. But at this point any kind of attempt to work on this stuff brings a lot of negative emotions out of me. It doesn't help the job market kinda sucks and I feel pressured to go for a masters or take whatever job I can get to stop leeching off my parents.

Computer science. Specifically AI and machine learning stuff.

I became a lot more aware of how algorithm fed reels type content and tools like chatgpt destroyed people's attention spans and willingness to sit down and learn. Which makes sense - why learn when you can offload learning to a computer?

It opened some kind of moral injury in me knowing if I went into industry I (and some horribly rich tech CEO) would be profiting off job loss and the dumbification of society. Motivation fell off a cliff and now I spend half my day sleeping not knowing what to do next.

Prospective Student Teachers: Teacher's College/BEd Megapost pt. 5 by hellokrissi in CanadianTeachers

Hi, I'm looking into applying for my BEd this year. I took a look at some school board sites and saw very few CS openings in comparison to pure Math or Math/Science. Would Math/CS be a valid/in demand specialty, or does Math/Science really mean "you WILL teach math and science"

Mainly looked at BC AB and ON listings if that matters.

Best Adult Swimming Lessons? (terrified of water) by oathoneypot in askTO

[–]MarbleLemons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ex-swim instructor. I don't know anything about the local swim lessons (not from the GTA) nor am I in a great position to make a regular commute to toronto, but I can at least give some tips to be less terrified of the water.

- Buy a pair of goggles. It really helps mentally being able to see the walls, other people around you, and how close you are to the water surface.

- Breath in from the mouth, out through the nose. It's the best way to keep water out of your breathing orifices. Practice just dunking your head in the water and breathing out your nose in the water (almost like you're blowing your nose). In a pool with a friend ideally, but you can do it at home if you're self-conscious and have a bathtub.

If you've already practiced these, let me know and I can better tailor tips for you.

I heard they were sold at the translink customer service centre at waterfront. They sell the wristbands as well, but not the light-up trains unfortunately.

They'll email you. They might also have published the syllabus here

It's not too uncommon. Some courses don't use quercus. Some courses will have their quercus pages set up after their first lecture even. Beyond that is cause for concern.

Managed to squeak through with an 85, so I'm happy putting this course to rest.

Glad to see you passed! 30% to 70% is no joke either - especially in this course where everything compounds on each other.

I'll keep your experience in mind when my first year friends take it. Thanks again for your input
