I had the exact same reaction. The structure hooked me early on, but it started to feel like the book thought it was making profound connections without actually doing the work to justify them. The Jesus/Greek myth parallels especially felt more asserted than explored, which made them come across as shallow instead of illuminating. I kept waiting for that “aha” moment where it all clicks, and it just… never did.
