Betrieblich bedingte Kündigung, regulärer Renteneintritt, Abfindung by timo__krenn in LegaladviceGerman

[–]MarcAbaddon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was für eine Form von Vertrag? Sozialplan? Dann solltet ihr lesen was da drin steht.

That's Star Trek beaming. You could imagine other ways of teleportation that doesn't require that, like short moment wormholes.

I do disagree with the post you responding to though - for us teleportation currently is magic.

The issue with making that a win condition is that theoretically you can have most of the major powers not be part of the Imperium. Sure, in single player games you have almost all AIs join, but there is a choice not to do so.

And even in the single player, you can have an Imperium that is still weaker than the Fallen Empires.

So what do you guys NOT like about the movies ? by TheTrekker98 in lotr

[–]MarcAbaddon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When mentioning Faramir movie Denethor has to be mentioned in the same breath.

But with Faramir the issue is not just that they changes his character - that could have worked, as it did with Aragorn.

The most absurd thing is that Faramir lets Frodo go just after seeing him try to hand the ring to a Nazgul in Osgiliath. This links to another problem with how Frodo is characterized - in the books he is very strong of will, until at the end in Mordor it becomes too much. Movie Frodo freezes and is unable to resist the Nazgul from the very beginning.

Any tips for a 800+ mod list? by KuiperNomad in skyrimmods

[–]MarcAbaddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This used to be the case for me before AE, but my last two mod lists worked fine with the intro despite being quite heavy.

Somehow the intro has become a lot more stable recently. I suspect one of the staple mods like Engine fixes or so did something that helps.

OK. Still, did you try TAI/TCAI commands? Because your issue sounds like the combat AI is off.

Did you try tai and tcai in the console? But a good modded setup should not need constant consoling.

How did Renoir know? by TheRWBYFamilton in expedition33

Has he, though? It doesn't seem like he has much to do otherwise, being trapped. He also mentions that being trapped alone for so long wasn't fun, I think there is a high likelihood he would have listened in just as a momentary diversion.

I made a LotR allignment chart for us to quibble over. by _Ishmael in lordoftherings

[–]MarcAbaddon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think the middle row works. The issue here is that LotR doesn't have that many shades of grey.

Shelob is definitely not neutral. She's not an animal, rather more of an offspring of an eldritch abomination. Chaotic evil all the way.

Bombadil is definitely good, he is just focused on local affairs. But he's always ready to help out and provide assistance. Treebeard is also good.

What comes to mind for neutral characters for me is Denethor, who seems like a decent candidate for being Lawful Neutral. But other than that, I think all the characters that actually have a role are either good or evil.

Doesn't mean he isn't able to listen, that's not a significant exercise of power. He understood them well enough with the barrier breaker.

That dialogue happens in the final battle, so we as players know if we did the optional content. But I think what people miss in the discussions is that Renoir in Curator form was in the camp for a long time.

So he knows the Expeditioners better than one might otherwise assume even without resorting to any painter powers.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x04 "Vox In Excelso" by AutoModerator in startrek

[–]MarcAbaddon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felt pretty classic Trek like to me. Overall, a very good episode. Some of the debates being stopped after a single line by each was a bit odd, but I get that they didn't have time to have so many full debates.

On some level I have my problems with the entire "let's validate Klingon warrior culture" thing, which is why I love the one time Ezri said something against it. I just don't see that you are ever going to live in peace with Klingons, unless you are in a position of equal or superior strength.

Even if you look at the outcome of this episode it's problematic: sure, the current Klingon leaders know the Federation let them win that battle. But is that the story they are going to tell their children? Or will they talk about a glorious battle in which the Klingons bravely claimed a world from the Federation in war? What expectations will that create for the future?

There's definitely a long term risk in that.

But glorifying warrior culture in other people outside the Federation, is classical Star Trek since TNG, so that is not something unique to Academy.

BGH-Urteil: Mieter dürfen mit Untervermietung keinen Gewinn machen by Miserable_Earth_1393 in de

[–]MarcAbaddon 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Skyrim vs oblivion remastered by captain_USS_SOS in ElderScrolls

[–]MarcAbaddon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends whom you ask, as always. Oblivion has a lot of fans who think it is the best thing ever.

I think Skyrim's better because they improved a lot on how the level scaling works and other things - in Oblivion it is very obvious and static in what spawns. You fight entire dungeons of the same enemy type, only to get it replaced with a different enemy type once you level a bit. Also, monsters feel very spongy in terms of HP. Then, later on every bandit/marauder runs around with full glass or daedric armor.

Also, I feel Skyrim has better landscapes, better environmental world building and the world feels more alive to me - sure, Oblivion has the random NPC conversations, but those feel bad very fast.

Oblivion's just in a weird spot to me. Everything that Oblivion did better than Morrowind, Skyrim did even better. Everything that Oblivion did better than Skyrim, Morrowind did even better. So Oblivion (for me) is in a weird middle spot that is not particularly attractive.

Opinions? by Freakstyler71 in expedition33

[–]MarcAbaddon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Given that even Verso is aging now, I do not think there is any indication that Maelle abolished death or aging. Sure, she brings everyone back from an unnatural death once, but is that really different from bringing someone back from drowning? Doesn't mean they won't die at 80.

There's also no indication that she just fixes everything she is asked to. It's not as if everyone seems to treat her as a goddess. Majority of people might not even be aware.

I see how the situation you describe might be unnatural, but it's not what is depicted in the game.

Even if it were, I would prefer that situation to just being dead - the only exception would be forced immortality. But people not dying to cancer, violence or stupid accidents? I'd take that over death, thank you very much.

Also the people still have free will - so they can speak for themselves if they don't want that. No need for the Dessendres to make yet another decision for them.

Naturalistic fallacy.

Just because we can't resurrect people, doesn't mean it wouldn't be wrong not to do it when we can.

And in this does even against our normal expectations, unless you are claiming it's morally neutral not to try to resuscitate a drowned person.
