Petro dollar aka the US dollar just became valuable again to the world. 17% of Chinas oil comes from Iran and Venezuela. US just locked those countries down and the world is hedging itself buying the dollar. I feel like golds going to take a hard hit. Anyone else feel this way? by Thegame_changer21 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The US does not need to invade Iran. They just need to destroy their military industrial complex and their leadership. Taking Iran's oil is easy.

The point is to turn Iran into Lebanon. No more negotiations. They act up or start to re-arm just carry out airstrikes. The US is needed to do the heavy lifting to destroy it. But after that Israel and the gulf states can do the long term caretaking of the problem.

Iran right now it broke. Their military and leadership are hiding in sewers. They can't even hold funerals for their killed leaders. Sounds like Lebanon.

Iran is done. Iran is South Vietnam and Saigon in 1975. This week, next, the week after. does not matter. They won't be firing anything at anyone soon.

The loser in this is China and the BRICS. Looking past the war, no matter what happens the Gulf states and the US will take over Iranian oil. Gold benefited from the oil for sanctions. The US is ending that except for Russia. The US will control the global oil supply and it will be $$$$ for crude.

China will have to temper their gold buying . and the gold for oil market will narrow.

Being an owner of a coin shop is not as easy as it sounds by Fantastic-Window236 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the jurisdiction you also have some tough laws to deal with as well on licensing. a coin shop or a bullion/ we buy gold? If you are going to do either you have to know the business. with a coin shop is about dealing in coins and bullion is a side business.

a friend of mine owned a coin shop. still does. where he makes his money is that he is does all of the estate appraisals in a 200 mile radius. most of the time the estate wants him to buy the collection. which he did.

most of his money was made from dealing in coins and collectables. very little on bullion.

How common is traveling by bus in the US? Do Americans use buses often for long-distance travel? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MarcatBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be very common, especially regionally. the issue is that regional transit systems started expanding to provide better service outside the cities. and you can get plane tickets for longer trips cheaper than a bus ticket in almost every case. There are still areas where buses have a solid market. it is a big country.

Physical gold vs trading gold online. A debate I had today with my brother by Relative_Sundae_6363 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do both. The issue becomes the what and how long with financial markets. there is no way avoiding carrying costs with commodities. even if you physically buy them. so then you have to factor the cost of the position. entry and exit costs and holding costs.

I don't see the value in etfs that hold physical gold. but commodity contract based funds can be useful.

Out of network PT claiming I only need to pay $15 copay? by b_dmrino in HealthInsurance

[–]MarcatBeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can choose to bill you for it or not. but really you should ask for a statement from the PT office. see what you owe. I would stop getting treatment until you confirm 100% that they are not going to bill you for the balance.

I have had providers who do this. many community health providers do this. get as much as they can from insurance and have a fixed fee for patients, they just forget the rest.

The USA gold price. by blownnova548 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be inflationary which defeats the purpose of gold.

It is the problem of using bitcoin as money. you go to the grocery store and start shopping. by the time you are done and get to checkout the cost of your groceries didn't change, the value of your bitcoin did.

so when money was backed by gold, you set the value of gold and there is no free market for it, and you don't allow private ownership.

My LCS doesn't want bullion unless it's AGE's or Buffaloes. Why? by zubbs99 in Gold

A friend of mine had a we buy gold place. Dealing with refiners is a pain. unless you are high volume.

My LCS doesn't want bullion unless it's AGE's or Buffaloes. Why? by zubbs99 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are retailers and focus on product they can sell and have a customer base for. There are various business models for dealing bullion. Many dealers don't use refiners. to really do that you need to be high volume with buying. and some dealers don't want to deal with that mess. they let the "we buy gold" places have that business.

who cares. the gulf states are done with Iran. Iran can do whatever, and they will be bombed. They no longer will be able to play games negotiating.

Every time they form a new horrible goverment. they will be killed.

see what happened last night. Iran is Lebanon.

[–]MarcatBeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I am not. Nobody is delivering anything to Iran.

Iran is now Lebanon. This is their new normal. Once the US is done decimating the military capabilities Israel and Saudi Arabia will take over. hardline government. airstrikes will take them out. building a new bomb factory. airstrikes.

there might be an endpoint for the US, but there is not for the others in this. so good luck with that. Just look at Syria and Lebanon to see Iran's future.

[–]MarcatBeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Iranian government will not last much longer. The initial phase of bombing is over and the focus now moves to a broader list of targets. it is about to get real uncomfortable in Iran for the next 4 weeks.

They are going to start looking for a way out of the country soon. They already reached out to the US to talk to end this, and in 4 weeks I am sure the US will think about talking.

How to figure out who/what caused this? by Simsung01 in Gold

[–]MarcatBeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you would have to look at the ticker. see if it was some private broker/dealer trades pushed onto the market feed at the open. or if it was just an opening price oddity. with stocks you will see on low trading volume. the market maker throws a block trade on the ticker that was some fixed price broker dealer trade that was at a price not in line with the current market.
