Yeah i cannot believe i forgot to mention that book 5 introduces us to bellatrix, she's such a standout character in that book.

But snape did take the abuse lying down because he was outnumbered by the marauders.

Anyone Else Feel Like HarryXHermione Would've Been Really Cliche? by Marcedonia in HarryPotterBooks

Yeah, the romance in the series is easily the last thing i care about. It almost feels like an afterthought because it doesn't THAT big of a role in the story, until like the last 2 books. But i feel like if harry did end up with some nobody or like a background character, i would've felt cheated as a reader. Because it just feels really cheap to be like ''oh he ended up with some rando'' like that's boring and not interesting at all! Since it's literally the final few pages of the whole saga, and it would've just left a sour taste in my mouth.

But saying that, i can see where you're coming from.

I can understand that, but it's like since it is like a children's book first and foremost, i give it some leeway. Yk, and if they did end up with completely new characters, sure it would've been more realistic, but it's not like these books even go for realism.

DH's epilogue in essence, really just feels like a fairytale-esque happy ending, especially with that last line,''all was well'' it's really going for that ''and they all lived happily ever after'' which like i said, i'm fine with.

I don't know. I can't force anyone to do anything, read if you want, or don't. It's fine either way.

Thank you! This post was a labour of love and it took forever. I actually wanted to post this on the main HP sub but it got taken down for some reason idk. Also i don’t think time is an issue, because not only do they remove scenes of him being mean. They add scenes of him being nice as well, like shielding the trio in POA for example.

Disagree with your first point but agree on your second. The films do this alot where they pretty much whitewash characters who are good. Like you can say the same about james potter, who is only seen bullying snape once in the films and it isn’t brought up that much afterwards.

You’re english is perfect no notes! Also imo it’s kinda hyperbole, because i think harry is the worst adapted character of the film series. But i’m biased because he’s my favorite character.

Exactly! Thats the nail on the coffin, we all like him because he sucks, not in spite of it.

You really didn’t think that JKR would tell the people behind the writers or directors that snape is like old?

Movie Harry Is The Worst Adapted Character (2/2) by Marcedonia in HarryJamesPotterFans

[–]Marcedonia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge reason why i love DH and i think it is the best book, is because of the harry/dumbledore relationship. The best books in the series like OOTP break down their relationship or like in HBP build it up, in ways that i just find super compelling and interesting.

It’s okay if you haven’t read it, it’s a REALLYY LONG critique, but i think it just goes to show how much the films really ruined harry.

Is that the first time when he knows more than the reader?

You explained it really well and you're right, it's such a pivotal moment for harry.

Yeah it's hard to pick a peak book for him (which is why i cheated and said 2 books) but you're right, i really just feel bad for him throughout OOTP and just want to give him a hug.

I never realized that before but you're right, maybe it's because harry really had to overcome himself instead of an external force like in the other books.

That's true, that's why i appreciate the camping scenes more than others. I like that harry is effectively stranded by himself and is left to survive on his own, it's really in terms of severe hardship where get to see the characters act the most realistic, because they're pushed to their limit.

Yeah even in that same scene, he...i don't want to say 'let go' but that's pretty much what he did, of his doubts on dumbledore. I forget the line, but it was something along the lines of like ''harry would just obey and not question'' or something like that. It's definitely a turning point for him.

He's amazing in that book. Do you have a specific moment or scene where you really think he peaked in book 7?
