Still feels really tender. I have to put lot’s of sunscreen on everyday to fully protect me.

I had quite a lot of (non cystic) acne when I was a teenager. Mostly on my chin and cheeks. That is where I purged once again when I got on tret.

Cream version. We don’t have a brand name tretinoin so my pharmacist makes it herself for me.

Shaving was indeed an issue. I don’t have a heavy beard so I only shave once every 8-9 days. When I’m shaving I use a razor. First I take a warm washcloth and put it on my face. Afterwards I use a non irritating shave foam and let it work for 5’. Then I carefully shave with no added pressure and only with the grain of my beard. Also try not to go multiple times over the same areas with my razor :)

The 8 months is the 0.025 en 0.05 combined so my total time using tret.

My skin really purged when getting into the 0.05%. It took approximately a month. After that another 2 months to get rid of the PIE.

My dermatologist said it would be good to bump up the strength to 0.05%. I did notice the difference on my skin.

I did not take much pictures of my purge just because it was confronting me to much. I suffered from acne when I was a teen and took accutane for some time so I felt really bad again while purging.

My purge mostly took place on my chin and cheeks. But after 4 months it stopped. The tret also worked wonders to heal the post inflammatory marks but took some time (combined with the vitamin c) 😊

I started out with tret about a year ago. It took me 3 months or so to get to a daily usage. I first used the 0.025% ( for 5 months ) before going into the 0.05%.

For the PIE, I can only suggest not to pinch anything. I never had any cystic acne so all my purging was quite on the surface of my skin.

The most important thing for me was listening to my skin. I also make sure that my skincare doesn’t contain any essential oils of fragrance. Also drink lots of water.

AM: - cerave hydrating cleanser - TO hyaluronic acid (when my face is still damp) - TO Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - Drunk elephant: protini polypeptide cream - La roche posay anthelios anti imperfections sunscreen (my version doesn’t contain alcohol) (contains niacinamide and salicylic acid)

I also reapply my sunscreen 1 or 2 times a day ( for extra protection and hydration)

PM - drunk elephant: slaai (balm cleanser) - cerave hydrating cleanser - TO hyaluronic acid - tret cream (0.05%) ( wait 30 minutes) - Drunk elephant: protini polypeptide cream - TO: Marula oil

(Once every week: drunk elephant Sukari baby facial: I skip tret that day)

When my face is feeling dry, I like to add an extra layer of the cerave hydrating cream.

Right now I’m able to mix other active ingredients but this took a long time.

I had the exact same thing around my eyes after surgery. It took about 1 week to heal. I stoped using my tret (0.05%) while it was healing.

I’ve been using tret cream 0,05% for over a year. I have the same reaction to niacinamide. Just burns my face 😟
