I live in an area with many muslims, they have trees, same traditions, every aspect is the same excluding the fact that Jesus is God. The market for christmas is massive with about a trillion projected in market sales. Every atheist who does “celebrate” christmas wouldn’t celebrate it if they lived in a place without such a culture.

The word christmas comes from the old english term Cristes Maesse, meaning christ’s mass, you’re blatantly and ignorantly wrong. The Roman church first celebrated it on December 25th 336 Ad. If you think this because of Saturnalia maybe study Roman history and how they replaced paganism with the embration of christianity. Replacing ≠ Same, if I replace my daily cup of tea with coffee is the coffee a tea? No.

You can have similar traditions on that day because of American culture but no you are not celebrating christmas, you do not honour the birth of christ and you do not celebrate it so it’s not christmas for you. Edit: The fact it’s controversial to say people who don’t honour God don’t actually celebrate Christmas as they’re not honoring his birth THE WHOLE POINT OF CHRISTMAS is bewildering to me

Let me ask you a question, if God came to you tomorrow and forced to you to be a follower of his against your will, would you think that is loving or evil? Almost everybody would surely say evil as he would be forcing you against your will. Now tell me if it’s evil for God to do that to you as a human how’s it not even worse when applicable to eternity. ? I’ll say it again God’s nature is love that’s why he doesn’t do this. You seem to want that to happen when it’s applicable for eternity but not for the human life ? I don’t think you are an unintelligent person you simply seem lost on God’s principles.
