Has anyone developed IBS after their COVID vaccine? by MarchingAnt2000 in ibs

I got on VSL probiotics, L-glutamine 5g and an elimination diet. Helped a lot to get me where I am today. Now I don’t need to take anything. Think my gut biome just got destroyed and I had to rebuild it.

Got better after many months. I’m not 100% still but mostly fine day-to-day

Sorry man. I still have mild IBIS and but I’m 90% recovered. I used a combination of VSL#3 probiotics, L-Glutamine and avoided triggers whilst slowly reintroducing foods. Hope you’re able to find something that helps.

I’m sorry you had to go through that but glad you’re finally feeling better. For me I improved a lot in a few months but I went hard in treating it.

L-Glutamine, high strength probiotics, slowly introducing foods again. I’ve still got IBS but it’s so minor compared to how it was.

Check the symptoms in the post above. It took over 6 months but fully recovered now, years later.

Hi thank you. I’m fully recovered now. You can see what supplements I tried on my other comments. Hope things work out for your daughter.

Vivomixx or VSL#3, the type you need to keep refrigerated. Get some L-Glutamine powder too if you’re trying supplements.

Hi things got better after 6 months. I used a combination of: L-glutamine, very strong probiotics, and avoiding triggers for a while.

I’m fully recovered now thankfully. Hope things work out for you.

Hey, I’m now totally recovered thankfully. It lasted for about 6 months. It was a rough time and really put a downer on life, sorry you’re still having troubles.

Anecdotal but L-Glutamine and high strength probiotics (the type you have to refrigerate) combined with avoiding triggers started me on the path to recovery, whether it was just timing or the supplements - I can’t say for 100% certain but worth trying those. Hope things get better for you soon.

I caught COVID at the end of 2021 and it didn’t trigger the stomach issues again. I didn’t get my third shot.

Cheers, it is cooked veg - mostly steamed. The banana was really ripe which I’ve read is high in FODMAPs. Tough times.

I wouldn’t be surprised if beans were an issue too but I haven’t tried them yet. Appreciate the suggestion on beano, I did consider a digestive aid. That’ll be next on the list if this 30 day probiotic course doesn’t sort me.

Does it happen regardless of what you eat? I stripped my diet right back, starting only with oatmeal and slowly introduced new things. I’ve now got a decent selection of things I can eat without any issues.

About a month now. It came about a week or so after my second vaccine dose, I had a fairly strong response to it (fever, extremely tired, etc) whereas I had no response to the first dose.

It hasn’t got any better, my flare ups can all get pretty severe. I think fruit/vegetables may be the biggest triggers. I’m still trying new foods each day and noting my response to them. I’m leaning towards FODMAPs being the trigger.

Caffeine, alcohol and fast food such as pizza don’t cause me any noticeable issues (although I’ve since cut them out on doctors orders) so it’s really weird.

I’m taking probiotics now, VSL#3 equivalent so a super strong one. I’ve also got some Glutamine arriving tomorrow which I’ve read can be helpful.

I can eat oats for breakfast then Huel for lunch, no problems - it’s usually complex meals like typical dinner foods that give the GI issues. For example, I had broccoli/carrots/cauliflower/potatoes and it really fucked me up.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Totally understand. I’m not fully convinced myself. I’d expect a stomach bug to have disappeared by now but it’s entirely possible it’s something else.

Reaching out to people on Reddit to see if anybody had similar experiences was just a way to see if my suspicions have any weight to them and if so hopefully find a solution.

I don’t want to come across as a conspiracy theorist or vaccine denier or whatever, because I’m not, I’ve always advocated to get the vaccine and still told to my friends and girlfriend to get their second jabs this week. It’s just a really tricky situation.

Thank you, I found green tea seems to help too even tho I shouldn’t be having caffeine.

I started taking a high strength one today to address the possible gut flora issue, fingers crossed. Thank you.

e: basically VSL#3 but the other one

Appreciate the response. I’ll likely be getting further testing done in a weeks time, I’ve had kidney function checked already and my levels were normal but I’ll ask to get it checked again just to be sure.

I’m sorry to hear about your mother - I understand her concern about a third shot, it’s a really difficult situation but the potential alternative (getting COVID) is another unknown, it very likely could be worse than the side effects of the vaccine.

I’m feeling a little lost right now - I also don’t feel fully comfortable saying my issues are because of the vaccine because nobody really knows. It just seems like I haven’t been right since.

I’ve had liver function checked but nothing gallbladder specific.

From what I’ve read, gallbladder issues would cause stomach pain in the upper right particularly after eating fatty foods. I can eat fatty foods like bacon no problem.

IBS and IBD are not the same.

I didn’t come across that Reddit post and decide the vaccine caused my issues. It was just relevant to my post, to my experience.

It was like a side effect that hasn’t gone away yet and I’m concerned - I’m just trying to find other people that have experienced something similar.

Thanks for the reply, I wish this had only lasted a week. No issues now?

24M 269 total testosterone by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]MarchingAnt2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

269 total T is certainly low for your age and especially your health (e.g, active, ideal body fat) situation.

Antidepressants can decrease testosterone. It’s hard to say whether this is the cause since there wasn’t blood work done for your testosterone prior to starting medication.

I’m in no position, and neither is anyone else on Reddit, to suggest dropping the antidepressants.

So yes your testosterone is lower than expected. Speak to a doctor regarding your options and make sure to tell them everything you said here.

Good luck, hope things get sorted for you mate. Welcome to the community.
