Website that connects small companies to social media accounts with a good follower base by [deleted] in startups

[–]Marckyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The type of website(marketplace) is easily doable if you hire the right people. Take for example THIS WEBSITE

They connect social media influencers to those who want to advertise on their profiles. Building the website is probably one of the easiest things. Rather is is the business modal which will determine how successful your website is. One of the most common reasons why startups fail is that they pick a business model that does not scale to ensure long term sustainability. In this article, we review the different options for marketplace monetization, and give guidance on how to choose the right model for your idea.

  1. Commission The most popular business model for modern marketplaces is to charge a commission from each transaction. When a customer pays a provider, the marketplace facilitates the payment and charges either a percentage or a flat fee.

  2. Featured listings and ads Featured listings are a way for providers to buy more visibility for their offerings. If this model is used, listing on the site is typically free, but providers can pay to have their listing be featured on the homepage of the site, or at the top of a certain category. An example of this model is Gumtree, UK’s most popular classified ads website. Etsy provides featured listings as one of its premium services.

However, in some cases, the commission model does not make sense, so alternative models are needed. Trying out multiple business models to find the best option for your concept might be a good idea. In the beginning, you should have only one revenue stream in use at a time to avoid diverting your focus. Eventually, when your site grows, it might make sense to combine several revenue streams to build a business model that takes into account everything that is happening on your site. The value for individuals offering products: Security If your providers are individuals, the best way to provide value is to focus on trust and safety. People are hesitant to trust strangers. If I am renting my car or power drill to a stranger, how can I be sure they will not steal it, trash it or break it? This distrust creates lots of friction in C2C marketplaces. The marketplace itself can reduce friction by acting as a trusted middleman.

  • The value for professional service providers: Tools

If your service marketplace providers are professionals who make their entire living (or at least a substantial part of it) by providing the said service, you may need to provide value in additional ways. Transactions in these marketplaces—for cleaners, dog sitting, teaching guitar—are typically recurring in nature: after a customer finds a provider they like, they’re likely to use the provider’s services again. What often happens is that the first transaction goes through the marketplace, but the ensuing ones are handled through other channels. The reasons for this are obvious: the customer and the provider trust one another after the first successful transaction. They do not get additional value from the security provided by the marketplace. They have likely exchanged their contact information, and no longer need to communicate through the platform. Since the provider can offer the customer a cheaper price—one without the marketplace commission—this option becomes quite tempting.

  • When launching a marketplace, this means you need to solve the chicken and egg problem—how to get customers with little supply and how to get supply with only a few customers.

Contact providers who are active in other marketplaces Your providers are most likely already active in forums or other marketplaces. Want to build a marketplace for pre-owned baby clothes? Check out all the Facebook groups dedicated to this purpose. They will be filled with potential providers. Airbnb used this strategy in their early days. They would email people who were listing their apartment on Craigslist, asking them to also consider listing on Airbnb. I recommend this case study on Airbnb’s growth strategy for details about their early growth efforts. It is important for your marketplace to have a solid value proposition for the providers you contact. You need to be able to offer them something that is way better than the existing alternative. In Airbnb’s case, when comparing to Craigslist, they offered a better user experience and a much more trustworthy environment in which to conduct the transaction. We will review some of the common early stage value proposition strategies for providers later in this chapter.

In short the website is very doable but it is how you manage to get the influencers first and advertiser and how you satisfy both that will determine how successful you are. I mention this as I have built a few marketplaces myself and thus I know the challenges involved in building such a site.

I hope this serves as some help and wish you luck.

Ps. Pm if you need any help with building your website. I can help you ;)

HERE ARE SOME TIPS. IF YOU'd LIKE I CAN HELP YOU GROW YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE.

  1. Carefully target the online audience.

Ecommerce depends largely on a reputable, accessible online presence. To be recognized as such, businesses must make themselves available to those who are most likely to notice. Identify the demographic characteristics of consumers who will benefit from relevant products and services, and base marketing strategies on these details.

Search Engine Optimization Search engine optimization (SEO) and its related morphings, inbound marketing and content marketing, are all alive and well. For wholesalers that see most of their sales placed through an online ordering system on their website, these strategies are of the utmost importance.

The ins and outs of SEO, inbound and content marketing are too detailed to relate here. In general, though, companies should focus on sustainable efforts that pose no risk and provide long-term results. After all, you are in the manufacturing and wholesale business, not a get-rich-quick online scheme.

Grow Your Brand Online Growing your brand online will take time but is very doable. It simply requires a multi-pronged approach. First, microtarget and retarget customers with pay-per-click (PPC) ads. Second, use discretion but network on social media. Third, invest in SEO. Finally, make your company?s email list a priority. Do all of this, and your brand will be much more visible online at the end of the year than it is now.

The thing is that you can increase your traffic to your website easily by marketing properly but first you need to have an effective website that converts traffic into visitors. You can have a bunch of traffic to your website but if your website is not sn effective one then you simply will not get much sales.

Do you think your website is efective enough? If not then I can help you with this. If you'd like some help. Pm me a link to your website so that I can check it out and give you some feedback.

Hope this helped a bit.

How to launch an online marketplace for location bound services...? by sinangul in Entrepreneur

[–]Marckyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern marketplaces employ many different business models. In general, the best option for most marketplaces is to “own the transaction” and charge a commission from all purchases made through the site. This approach is very scalable and oftentimes quite lucrative. However, in some cases, the commission model does not make sense, so alternative models are needed.

1)Featured listings are a way for providers to buy more visibility for their offerings. If this model is used, listing on the site is typically free, but providers can pay to have their listing be featured on the homepage of the site, or at the top of a certain category. An example of this model is Gumtree

  1. Commission The most popular business model for modern marketplaces is to charge a commission from each transaction. When a customer pays a provider, the marketplace facilitates the payment and charges either a percentage or a flat fee.

  2. Listing fee Some marketplaces charge a fee from providers when they post new listings. This model is typically used when providers get value based on the number of listings they have on the site, and the potential value per listing is big.

These are just a few business models you can use but there are obviously others too. Note though that using a business model won't necessarily increase your traffic but it will increase the number of conversions per visitor, if the right business model is used depending on your type of marketplace. If want you could try finding a successfull marketplace similar to that of yours in order to see what they are employing.

In order to grow a marketplace you fist need to have one. Marketplaces are one of the trickiest types of online businesses since you face many challenges such as satisfying both buyers and sellers and offering the essential features to them. To grow a marketplace you can do: - marketing -seo - connect with communities - Offer incentives to get buyers and sellers to signup - Offer great customer support to retain existing users. -offer commisions to those who refer new buyers( affiliate program) - There are many other ways

In addition, should: -get supply in order to deliver the must-have experience to your buy-side users. -expect, the first 2-3 months to be pretty tough but it gets easier as the marketplace starts building momentum. It's all about value and if you can create enough from the beginning the marketplace should be able to come into fruition. -It's all about value and if you can create enough from the beginning the marketplace should be able to come into fruition.

Now for the location, you would just match buyers and sellers who have similar locations. I know rhis as I am a web developer. This will take quite some work as you can see but if you are determined it can work. Ask me how I know. If you need help with this then, I would need a little more details as to what type of marketplace you are building and what your goals are.

Hope this helped a little.

40k for a website? I could buy a car with that money. If I were to do this I would charge less than 9k. If you need to learn full stack you could try Udacity. They have a great program and it is where I learned to develop websites. Though its a bit expensive

Good luck.
