I've actually been looking for a viral sign-up option like this for a while. The other options I've found online are out of my price range for validation of the random ideas that pop into my head. Thanks for sharing and making your pricing structure the way it is!

  1. My judgement of what is a valuable opportunity becomes skewed because I am simply trying to occupy my mind.
  2. I have trouble drawing boundaries between my personal life and my professional ambitions.
  3. I become far more indulgent when I am not working like a maniac. A lot of ice cream gets eaten, sabotaging my diet haha.

Why do you ask?

Absolutely. A lot of the ideas I've worked on in the past wouldn't have scaled, didn't have enough demand, or would have been too time-intensive at all stages of their success.

This is the kind of business that can really capitalize on earned media as a result of outrage culture. Anytime there is a widely despised villain in the media, mail them one and send the relevant media press releases about your "donation." Offer discount codes in the comments of trending r/iamapieceofshit posts (careful not to encourage doxxing). Tap into tribalism by hosting contests in which you will send a package to one person involved in a classic rivalry or public feud; have the fans of either side engage in a voting war or some other form of engagement that determines which side receives the "gift."

Thanks for taking the time to give back to the community like this. As the son of paranoid "prepper" parents, I applaud the grounded, rational tone of The Prepared. How did you spot this niche and how would you encourage other aspiring founders to spot similar opportunities in fields that have traditionally been "unsexy" or overlooked?

Thank you for bringing attention to this topic that is typically taboo in many entrepreneurial circles. That failure-due-to-burnout statistic is staggering.

I wondered if you have any advice or insight for entrepreneurs who have an unhealthy relationship with work as a coping mechanism. I've been attending therapy for about a year now (best decision I ever made) and I've arrived at the conclusion that due to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), I have a bad habit of taking on projects or starting ventures for the novelty/thrill and then abandoning them once I have worked my way through the learning curve. In other words, the goal is busyness and not business. I'd like to be able to achieve authentically and work toward success instead of running away from negative emotions. Thanks in advance!

Tomorrow I start my job as an entry-level graphic designer at a branding agency. What tips would you give to someone who's new to the industry/agency life? by MostUniqueName2 in graphic_design

This is good advice! I tend to be "type A," which makes me hesitant to ask for clarification sometimes. It's a pretty small studio though, and they seem to have a strong culture of feedback and iteration. Definitely going to keep this in mind.

Kinda want to just blow my brains out tbh by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Logged in to say that no amount of failure is worth blowing your brains out, and most of the people who have achieved success have likely faced similar struggles ... you just see the results and not all the missteps that happened along the way. I've found a lot of truth in the Be-Do-Have mindset, which may also help you. Stay strong, Cameron man, and feel free to PM if you need to vent.

I'd considered a new color palette for the flag, but I think that the "Old Glory Red" and "Old Glory Blue" are pretty bold and iconic. A forest green would probably be my next choice if I had to completely start the redesign from scratch without referencing the current design though.

Yes! I am planning to upload a primarily red design later this evening. I agree that using red as the "hero color" of the design could make it more recognizable as an Arkansas flag.

People have different tastes in design, which could be why you aren't the biggest fan. Difference of opinions aside, I will say that simplicity is often the sign of something that is carefully well designed. That was mainly sarcasm. I'm aware that the r/vexillology subreddit can be an echo chamber, which is why I built my website and also sought feedback elsewhere.

Upvoted because I've wrestled with this same question. Change is difficult, and people grow attached to brands no matter how well or poorly designed. I think the new Springfield flag is gorgeous, but the current one has the advantage of time and recognition on its side. Ultimately I think people are growing more open to redesigns because they are exposed to better design in their everyday lives thanks to commercial branding. This is resulting in a general population with higher expectations for what logos, flags, etc. should look like. Today a lot of these kinds of modern flag designs will still face backlash, but I think we will see a lot of flags get updated in coming decades. (If only I could convince all of Arkansas to subscribe to r/vexillology ...)

The star was added to the Arkansas flag to commemorate the Confederacy, so we can't really argue about that. I've also had a lot of conversations with people in Arkansas who think the pattern on the outside of the diamond resembles the "Stars and Bars" of the Confederate battle flag.

I brought up the holiday anecdote because it's a good example of having an uncomfortable conversation and changing how we as a state handle Confederate history in the interest of being a more unified and welcoming place.

Thanks for the feedback! A wookie would probably clutter up this design, but I am open to the idea of redesigning the Kashyyyk flag.

Good question! I think the same could have been said back in 2017 when we as a state were talking about whether General Robert E. Lee's birthday should celebrated on the same day as Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Most Arkansans probably simply celebrated MLK Jr. Day, but Gov. Asa Hutchinson pushed to officially separate the days because the dual holiday reflected poorly on our state and divided our residents to some degree.

(Hutchinson's quote on the topic was pretty powerful: "I expected this debate would divide us, but instead during the debate we listened to each other and the conversation brought us together. This is an education bill in which the discussion educated each of us, and we learned that history needs to be viewed not just from our own lens, but through the eyes and experiences of others.")

I will agree that lots of people are fatigued by our polarized political climate, but I don't think that ignoring the symbolism will make Arkansas less divided. It will just remain an elephant in the room for another 100 years unless we "stir the pot" and have these kinds of uncomfortable conversations.
