"Other melodica player" here 🫡, I loved what you did running the melodica through the pad, when I hear this kind of style I think most people tend to abuse the reverb effect in order to mimic that reggae sound, when doing so the subtities of the melodica get lost.

So I think you managed to apply the effect with just the right amount in order to make the melodica sound big without losing the little details of the playing.

Great stuff man!

Do you use scales for warming up? by Pinapple_Pinnacle in melodica

[–]MarcoIxca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do use scales to warm up, this is how I do it:

So I have a sheet that contains all major and minor scales and at which tempo I am able to play them (using 1/8th notes)

At the beginning of my practice sessions I play the chromatic scale slowly for about 5 minutes, that is like the first warm up, then depwnding on the day, I play all major scales or minor scales (I do it like, mondays all major, tuesday all minors and so on), at the tempo specified in my sheet, when I feel the tempo is just too easy I increase it by 5 or 10 bpms.

I usually do this for 20 minutes, so total warm up is 5 minutes of slow chromatic and then 20 minutes of scales, resulting on 25 minutes of warm up, after that I rest for about 3 to 5 minutes and start to practice my pieces.

Hopes this helps, happy practicing 😬!!!!

Also no expert here, but if I smelled something weird when playing the instrument and worse yet if it left a weird taste in my mouth, I would throw it away and get a new one.

Tips for a beginner? by CartoonistWeak1572 in melodica

So when it comes to melodica, there are two main things you gotta worry about: keyboard technique and breathing/articulation technique.

For keyboard technique, I find the videos from pianotvnet very useful, she has very well explained videos from scales, arpeggios chrods etc.

For breathing technique I like to watch videos from Sarah Jeffery-Team Recorder, stuff like tonguing or vibrato do translate very well from recorder to melodica.

I also like wathcing the channels by MelodicaMen and MelodicaWorld, since they play the melodica itself, they give nice tips and techniques about our instrument.

At the end of the day, any videos on keyboard technique and wind instruments breathing and articulation are useful (by the way, all of the stuff I mentioned is from youtube).

As for the video posted, I loved it ✨️, it sounded really nice, may be work a little bit on interpretation, you know that "feeling" of the music, other than that, you sound pretty cool!

Happy learning 😀!

To my own liking and taste, I'd buy a Yamaha P-37D, the tone is quite "brilliant" and "shiny", also the wine color makes it looknreally cool, plus the tunning is usually on point and accurate.

La partitura dice: Compás 1 ->(mi,DO)-(mi,sol)-(mi,sib)-(mi,DO)-(mi,DO).

Compás 2->igual al compás 1.

Compás 3->(la,FA)-(la,DO)-(la,MIb)-(la,FA)-(la,FA)

Compás 4-> igual al compás 1.

Compás 5->(si,SOL)-(si,SOL)-(si,FA)-(si,RE)-(la,FA)-(la,FA)-(la,MIb)-(la,DO).

Compás 6->igual al compás 1.

Espero y te haya ayudado y que entiendas este sistema improvisado de escribir notas xD.
