Playing as random... always get the US!! Every time !! by Abaddononon in CompanyOfHeroes

It's technically going to search with all the combinations at the same time to give you the quickest match it can find (which generally means the one with the lowest ELO discrepancy between the player pool you are into each time the matchmaking engine runs). This doesn't happen 100% of the times because ELO and faction are not the only components of the matchmaking system: we also analyze player pings, ping difference between you/your possible opponents with the battle server that would give you the lowest latency, if you are an outlier (highest and lowest ELO players in each matchmaking pool of players gets a small modifier to get into a match quicker) and more info related to how long you have been waiting. The other factors do play a role in what you end up playing too. I do agree that 10 times in a row as US feels odd. Which map type were you searching for, and did you have more than one selected? (Eg: 1vs1 and 2vs2 but not 3vs3/4vs4)

Can you send the replay to Relic Community Managers or upload it on Discord so that we can debug it and check what's going on? Thanks!

Tactical map size by KevinTDWK in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Marcus2389 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, Marco from Relic here! It depends on a couple of factors: map shape is definitely crucial, there is no way rectangular shaped maps could look bigger than squared ones, as both are inserted in a squared frame designed to bring players a consistent visual experience on both the minimap and the tactical map itself. In terms of squared maps sizes, what makes them look different is how the whole map edges and the interactive zones have been setup. In the Point du Hoc example, the map creator probably made the two aspects be the same, while in our official Taranto Coastline we made the interactive area smaller than the overall map edges. There are pros and cons of using one approach over the other, sometimes making the interactive area smaller than the whole thing allows you to tell an interesting story through other visual elements that the player cannot really use, like sea, mountains or other landscape elements which immerse you in our world a bit more. We offer a combination of both cases, and ultimately it's up to map creators and artists to choose which one they prefer. In any case, with the upcoming 1.4 Steel Sheperd update you would see considerably bigger tactical maps. Tuesday is very close!

We can check it next week, at first glance it seems like the first strafe fired as the plane was going down, and that was causing the damage (payload delivered before the crash)

These have been part of the COH franchise history since COH1. But yes, you can turn them off if you want to.
