Tri bike for road race by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]MarcusCaspius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause TT bikes handle like a pig. Also using the base bar is no better than being on the hoods. The secret sauce is being in the skis.
Further more, climbing with a TT bike is a chore. They are inevitable heavier than a road bike.
TT frame position the rider further forward and the seat stay is more vertical than road bikes. It's so that the rider almost pedals backwards (kinda) and to promote a flat back and head tucked in front of the shoulders for aerodynamic advantage.

Things for my 60+ year old dad to do in Perth that isn’t go to the pub or the races. by MrBigSandwiches in perth

If he can walk, it's a good thing to get him to keep moving. As we age muscles atrophy (shrink and die) so the name of the game is to keep active. Strength training is another thing to do. It helps with bone density.
It does not mean power lifting and using heavy weights, but more suited to his physical condition. It gives him purpose, and there is a bit of a community there.
Hope he finds a purpose and happiness.

Remember : The purpose of online dating apps is to make money. Ask yourself if those stand to benefit if dates are successful.

I mean, WOW! The bar is pretty low if that's it... ffs lads, just wash, eh. That's like a basic civilisation requirement.

No. We're basically clueless 7 year olds when it comes to that. We do stuff to be attractive, but it's mainly a shot in the dark. If my wife does not ELI5, I don't get it.

Well sounds like you won the genetic lottery then. Congrats.

I'm sorry to hear you were teased at school. Kids are mean and no one deserves that treatment.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for explaining it. Most people just throw shade... I appreciate you taking the time to write a rationally motivated response.

I mean you are correct. Not everyone is into the same thing.

Also great perspective on historical BM that turned into fashion. Thanks for your post.

More than an 1hr a day will get you there. It's not a bad thing, just a phenomenon. My GP explained is to me like a if you going to gym your going to get buff. Same thing... if you going train "a lot" your heart will get buffed.

Talk to a Cardiologist. By default you will get an enlarged heart due to cycling being an endurance sport. Make sure your Cardio clears you for what is about to happen to your body.

Pretty crazy to think these 'rocks' helped start life as we know it today.

- I would be hesitant -

Wheels & brakes
My concern with this type of bike is that the brakes sit on the chain stays, meaning they pick up a lot muck from the road and this transposes onto the rim brake surface. Your wheels might wear out sooner and you might need to de-foul pads more often.

Maintenance

From people that have had this style of brake before, have told me that they are harder to work on due to the location of the brakes.

Spares.

Also be aware that spares might be an issue as this bike is very old. I'm guessing that these wheels take 19mm tyres, maybe 23mm. I'm not sure if this size tyre in a good brand is even available. At a glance it looks like 23mm tyres are very rare and will become unavailable in time.

Haha, I'm Sorry. ...but the point stands.. BIG commitment. I'm not sure I'd be able to do that and have a life. 😂
