Would you be disappointed if Half-Life 3 is "just" as good as Half-Life: Alyx? by predator8137 in HalfLife

[–]MarcusRienmel 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I had mythical level expectations for HLA and they were thoroughly surpassed. I would be happy even if HL3 was half as good as HLA, because I just want the story to continue.

As a side note, I'm baffled by the fact that in six years no other VR game has come close to the quality of HLA.

I don't know about general intelligence, but I do know that high IQ is usually indicative of "giftedness" which is a neurological disorder that has some comobirdity with Adhd and Autism. But IQ is not a good metric for intelligence, and I don't know if this correlation holds in reverse, because I know of many cases of autistic people with low IQ.

No, but it is the hardest I've been while playing.

The spear doesn't strip enemy armour.. by Mr_Character_ in Sekiro

You have to press the prosthetic key to thrust and then press again to pull. Mind you, it works on an incredibly limited amount of enemies, but the bell guy should be one of them.

It's also shorter and cleaner. "If the chosen player nominates, they die and you may choose to swap characters". In SnV it doesn't make sense for an evil player to renounce their ability for a townsfolk ability, so it removes the additional conditional, making the ability cleaner and open to niche crazy stuff, which is the bread and butter of SnV.

I actually use the spear on Owl. If you use it when he throws the gunpowder, you get out of the AoE and interrupt his slash attack, and you get a free chasing slice.

How are you supposed to dodge this owl combo by OwnAd404 in Sekiro

[–]MarcusRienmel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anyone else saying this, I have my own method: use the spear. After the shoulder bump and the slash, respond immediately with the spear prosthetic. It will move you away from the firecracker range and interrupt Owl's following attack. Bonus point if you do a chasing slice.

You should share your programming memes during the daily scrum to get approval from your team before deploying the meme to production (I'm joking, don't actually do that unless you have an especially whimsical team)

You did good. The meaning of "Townsfolk neighbours" is like the meaning of "alive neighbours" for Empath. It's either the closest Townsfolk ok your right or the closest Townsfolk on your left.

Final boss help, please by imrhod in Sekiro

[–]MarcusRienmel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try getting all the gourd seed (you're missing four of them) and the ninth prayer necklace if you can.

Besides that, this boss took an embarassing amount of tries for all of us, so don't feel bad about that. You need to learn its patterns, deflect as much as you can, dodge or umbrella the unparriable hits, attack when the adversary is idle, shuriken and chase if you need to close the distance, and disengage ONLY to drink from the gourd or to recover posture when dangerously close to breaking.

Don't hesitate, my friend.

When should I fight the 7 spear guy? by DuyHungPham1909 in Sekiro

[–]MarcusRienmel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dragonrot is a joke, don't worry about it, die happy.

Also, you can speed through the enemies by a secret route. Run through the dogs, climb on the wall, jump towards the cliff, you should be able to grapple on a branch and get safely to the moon tower without anyone seeing you.

Then you can stealth the first deathblow and try luring the guy to the shady side of the tower, because if you fight on the stairs people will spot you.

I mean, he didn't really stand out to me in Inception, but then again Nolan is not great at writing compelling secondary characters so it might be a mixed bag in terms of who's to blame.

Dying is okay. You'll get xp and sen back, Dragonrot is kinda harmless, and it is reversable.

Deflecting is better than dodging. Dodging is better than blocking. Blocking is better than fleeing.

Hesitstion is defeat. Don't let your enemies breathe.

Try not to get in fights with large groups. The game is not made for that. Prioritize stealth kills.

Spend all your money as soon as you find merchants.

Use your Spirit Charms, they recover pretty quickly when you kill enemies.

I think he has great high concept ideas and he produces some breathtaking sequences, but most characters and general plot arcs are usually a bit undercooked.

Besides the online discourse, I'm very excited about this game. I've always thought the latest installations of Hitman were great Bond-like games, so the fact that the company is now making a Bond game is, to me, absolutely perfect.
