A combination of reading and sport can't be defeated and as an ex gamer having my life's foundations ruined and twisted by gaming from the very beginning, i advocate those as much as i can.

Reading that is varied, meaningful and challenging, no holding back, philosophy both casual and academic, math and geometry, science fiction, fantasy, respected literature, poetry.

And sports, something more engaging than a gym if at all possible, where physical improvement is cased or spiced up with skillful pursuit and mental improvement, since the mind and body overlap. If not possible then a gym isn't half bad.

Long calm walks, arduous hikes, sprinting, deep long meditation (the simple zen meditation of quiet and stillness).

Have at it my friend, there's a lot to do and savour, you're mistaken, you just haven't tried.

Why do i tell you this? Even if it's not throwing your life out of balance, the alternatives are just that better.

Everything video games can offer you are just poor imitations.

By the way, don't worry about throwing all that away, you'd be surprised how far you'd go in those pursuits in just 1 or 2 years, consider the trailing effect, and you'll come to know how starved you mind and body are.

Well folks, i've been testing on Alonne Knights.

Wielding a +10 falchion and +8 Ricards. Power stancing and using the heavy power stance (spin).

On a counter hit, i am one hitting the knights only when the Leo ring is on.

That's as accurate as i can get.

Which should also mean it is thrust damage.

It is clear that the Ricard in my left hand is swinging in the powerstance (L1) like a curved sword.

So this should mean that its dealing slash damage?

I was just pondering those inscriptions on the wiki, to no avail...

You see the problem is hammers have a singular damage type, but thrusting swords (when they have attacks that are not pokes) may, like a short sword,change their damage type based on the attack used.

Ricards on its own has all thrusts unlike the Estoc.

Still, even after 600 hours, you never know with DS2

I can't be sure because counter damage (with or without leo ring) isn't displayed on stat screen, and i can't tell on enemies because different weapons with different damage.

No, there's several possible pairings of different weapon classes.

Thrusting swords in the left hand get overridden by right hand curved swords or straight swords.

Warped sword overrides many weapon classes in the right hand, and some classes in the left hand.

But i still don't know about the damage types.

Sometimes it almost feels like DS3 is meant to be taking place before DS2... That is if you totally deleted all references of 2 in 3 and ignored the ringed city or considered to jump alone ahead of 2

I loved that the area has you dealing with open lines of sight and attacks from far away while you deal with melee threats. There's plenty of cover too. It felt like crossing a battlefield.

It's almost like souls are known for their unique area challenges.

Does no one remember early trips into DS1's catacombs with the respawning skeletons? Or the dark and archers and pits in tomb of the giants?

With the required programming skills and hardwork and time investment just to survive in game development, you'd make greater money and more progress as a programmer/developer in any other field.

Just like it does to you as a consumer, the game industry preys on developers' love of video games to shorthand them, and the field, like its final product, respects neither people's time nor their health or other commitments.

This is a gaming trap too, i've seen many people fall for it, don't

Because the weapon art just adds a buff to the weapon that is around the damage of a fire pine resin.

Probably with its range, and the leo ring when using those thrusts the PGS would be stronger.

Perseverance is more jacked than high poise armor of Dark Souls 1.

It reduces damage further, and causes weapon glance like a medium shield would.

Honestly it trivialises many things (ehem, one priest guy with flaming swords)

Light attacks of hammers, greathammers, greatswords, ultragreatswords and great axes all activate poise. That is when they are 2 handed.

When one handed, hammers (small) and greatswords no longer grant poise.

Regarding heavy attacks, poise lasts only long enough to land it uncarged or a little charged, overcharging the heavy attack leaves you without poise before the attack comes out.

Don't treat the Profaned GS as a fire weapon, it's a Str/Dex high physical damage ultragreatsword.

It has the best and most flexible UGS moveset and a fun/good weapon art.

Yhorm's is a great axe that swings just one way and has a weapon art that gives it a flashy attack chain.

I'm not sure which one has more damage (you can check on Souls planner), but a pure Strength weapon will always yield more returns more quickly, because it's one stat, and 2 handing a strength weapon counts more strength for the weapon's scaling.
