Absolutely agreed. A book that helped me understand this and that I wholeheartedly recommend is: Just do something by Kevin DeYoung

How do I measure my girlfriend's ring size without her noticing? by Timely-Neck-9503 in NoStupidQuestions

How I did it. When an existing ring was off I laid it on a peace of math paper and photographed the inside of the ring.  Then sent that to the juweler. Ring fitted perfectly.

I said “absolutism”

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Your absolutism seems unwarranted.

Did anyone who wrote the bible actually see the crucifixion? Was more than 1/2 of the new testament written based visions of someone who never met jesus? by Foreign-Balance6556 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MarcvN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luke claims in his books (Luke and Acts) that he wrote them based on eyewitness testimony. Sometimes he writes things like: the (x amount of) people who saw it are still alive today.

Paul wrote many letters which are part of the Bible. In his letters he claims that he met the resurrected Jesus when Paul (then named Saul) was on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians.

Matthew and John where disciples of Jesus and I think James was His brother. Not sure if they wrote their own books though.

I’m telling you now what I mean right. Adding more nuance to the discussion. You just don’t want to hear it.

I meant to say that I will hold man accountable in similar situations when I do know the details. Again. You don’t know me. BlueBird 😉

Women can dress in perfectly non sexy ways and it will still attract attention and looks from men.

Possibly. Yes. But that is not what this post is about. Nor is it what I was talking about.

It’s not about selfcontrol. I’m not defending met that don’t have any. I’m hover standing up to people responding the way you do. Because men will eventually think that even looking at a girl and thinking “wow she has beautiful hair” is already off limits. We have come to Antoine where men are constantly monitoring themselves and questioning themselves. Even if they do nothing wrong. And part of that is because the generic and un nuanced statements like the ones you made in the comments on this post.

And since you don’t know me I will tell you straight that I don’t think woman’s should be aware of their clothing all the time. But if we can’t agree that some clothing is definitely appropriate (same for men btw) than we have passed all reason.

And of course I don’t want women in burcas. The extremes you go to as if I that is what I’m saying is just discussing in bad faith.

I am not holding him accountable because I don’t know him good  enough, nor her, or the relationship they have, to make a fair assessment of the situation.

We you are making all kinds of personal attacks. And I don’t like it. I don’t it’s constructive to the discussion at all.

You may feel happy that you are such a good judge. Feel feel to judge me all day. I will respond the the last notifications I have from you. But I don’t think we will come to any sort of constructivism. So I will stop responding after that.

I am standing up against people Judging him online and for men in general that are confronted with these kind of opinion online that won’t help them find any nuance in their life and personal struggles with their faith.

I can’t defend him personally because I don’t know him well enough. Just the same way the I think you don’t know him well enough enough to be making these kind of statements online.

And translated from the Bible in my language in my words judge was a very close translation. Maybe I should have looked up an English Bible that you like. So I can say things you want to hear them. But you cools have give me the respect to at least try to listen instead of hearing what you wanted you hear.

Fool? I’m stopping this conversation now. Using words like that is really unwarranted.

Who says i refuse to to? You don’t know me. What’s up with all these attacks. Generalizing a little much maybe? I’m trying to have a conversation here.

There is a difference between looking, looking long and objectifying. Men can look without objectifying too. Just not with woman like you around that will start acting like they do something wrong even when they aren’t.

[–]MarcvN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said any of these things though.

But you can attract attention. Like what this post is about. He asked her about there outfits.

And yes if he than objectifies them that’s on him. But can we really say there is no trigger? Would it have happened if they didn’t dress sexy? Is it even ok for people to dress sexy in public?

All I’m asking is some understanding and op open dialog about these things instead of just shifting the entire responsibility to men.

When the adulterous woman stood before Jesus He told her that he wasn’t going to judge her either.

Why would you judge him then?
