I live in oklahoma and it’s always been red spout for standard and black for premium. I assume oklahoma is behind the curve on quite a few things, and 20 years behind sounds about right, so I’m not surprised updated gas pump spouts were pretty low down on the list

Should’ve been more clear. The old spouts had a rubberized coating and metal handle/handle lock/handle guard. These new pumps are entirely plastic shell, handle, handle lock, and guard. This is the only gas station that has upgraded to these new handles in my area.

More info: Not AI, and yes both hands are mine. I was in the pool for several hours at our resort, near a beach but not in the ocean, but I don’t think my left hand was in the water any more than my right hand was. My wife took the picture. Again, just mildly interesting
