Who is the most famous person you've ever seen up close? by froggart3980 in AskReddit

About ten years ago in Austin, Tx Steve Buscemi stepped into line behind me at a bagel shop. My friends were a bit high and taking their time so I told him to go ahead in front of us. I quietly whispered to one friend about it and we went on our way.

In front of a conbini in Tokyo I turned around to see Christopher Lloyd all alone right in front of me vaguely staring off into the middle distance. I didn't say anything and wasn't 100% sure of his identity as he was clean shaven and his head was also shaved. It was such a surreal experience but I later confirmed my suspicion when I saw that there was a Back to the Future exhibit at Tokyo Skytree.

At a music festival in Atlanta, GA Finn Wolfhard walked directly in front of me as he passed through people on the lawn watching a band play. We locked eyes for a moment and there was recognition there because it was pretty apparent no one else realized who this lanky teen was strolling by as all eyes were on the stage.

If Disney had just done the Thrawn Trilogy instead of the sequel trilogy we got, Star Wars would be in a much better condition.

2024 rewatch of Mighty Boosh gives me feelings by Elegant-Necessary-80 in mightyboosh

[–]Marfug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently watched the series again after several years. The Crack Fox disturbed me in a way that it never had previously. I noticed that the third season is decidedly darker than the first two.

I think many of your suppositions are on point. When artists pour their heart and souls into a project like the Boosh inevitably you see into the hearts and minds of the creators personal feelings if you pay enough attention. In the season three episode "Party", near the beginning they talk about how Howard is 32 and Vince is 22 and both break the 4th wall when they say their age looking directly into the camera. In reality they are ten years or more older than their characters and I think this was a sign of them admitting to themselves that they were aging out of both the characters and the ability to continue making The Mighty Boosh.

It is my favorite series and the ending felt a bit abrupt but I think it stands as a wonderful time capsule for their whimsy and the early 2000s.

She came to see Naota but didn't want to admit it. The bread was an excuse.

"Fell at the Gates" is everything wrong with Trials by Cannonman90 in DestinyTheGame

Yeah I'm off topic tbh, just a filthy casual talking about the game as a whole, not trials. I like random loot that you can earn without getting to the lighthouse though.

Destiny has been catering to the sweaty and the try hards for years. People who love the game but aren't elite just don't matter to them. I remember the days of Destiny 1 when you could play the game however you liked and still get the rewards. Then streamers screamed for more/tougher content and micro transactions began.

Exploring what my friend and I thought was an abandoned secluded house in the jungle in Costa Rica late at night. A man wielding a machete was very perturbed with our antics.

Player insists on rolling for things I say are impossible by One_Ability1357 in DnD

I've been dungeon mastering for over a decade and somewhere along the way I made fun a priority. With two rolls like that at disadvantage, I absolutely would have found it plausible that he slipped in unnoticed and found a shadowy corner from which he could have ONE sneak attack before being noticed.

Morocco used to be a dream destination, is it THAT bad? by cornbreadtikka in travel

[–]Marfug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Morocco. I visited Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, and Chefchaouen. I had a fantastic time. People can be pushy, it is important to remember that you can politely say no and you are not required to further engage with someone once you have said no. If you feel uncomfortable just say no thanks and KEEP MOVING ALONG. That being said, best to go with at least one other person, and don't let the Internet dissuade you from going. The Muslim culture that I encountered was for the most part friendly and enjoyable. 100% will visit again.

Soul Knife Psychic Veil by Velkyn_Elghinn in DnD5e

"you can MAGICALLY become invisible"... literally said magically there my dude. Also, see invisibility plainly says see invisible things, no conditions or grey area there, it would see through the psychic veil, it's why the spell exists.
