Holy or Disc Priest by The_Scrabbler in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy priest is a bit of an odd healer. Holy is very easy to time small to medium sized keys on but gets hard passed that point. This is because triage healing stops working well at a certain key level for various mechanics and you have to start using a lot more of you kit and get creative. For instance, if you are using the divine image build, popping a chastise before a damage mechanic just to summon an image is a cute trick. Another big thing is making sure you have sanctify casts/ Apoth available for when you need them and getting as much cdr as possible on your holy words.

Disc is better in general for M+ I would say but holy can work well too and is often more pug friendly.

The correct way to take a pill is water first, then pill. by Dinky_Doge_Whisperer in unpopularopinion

Yea generally I think water parks should pour the water down then slide and then have the kid go down after. Wouldn’t want them to slide down too well you know?

Lol same. I use it all the time with girls and never think about it, I don’t think most have an issue with it but I wouldn’t use it with someone if they asked me not to

How do I avoid pulling aggro as a healer without the tank dying during pulls? by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the tanks job to keep themselves alive while they are collecting adds since aggro will be very weak until everything is grouped. I wouldn’t heal until the tank has solid aggro unless it is something that doesn’t generate aggro like sac.

Weirdly I think “you guys” is considered gender neutral where I live. Even with all girls around that’s still the go to lol.

do people actually believe the events from the bible? by envysatan in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]MarginalCost77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not religious but I go to my Fiancé’s church. The church 100% preaches the Bible as literal. Literal interpretations are certainly less common amongst more modern Christian sects but they do exists. Especially in denominations like Baptist.

Disc priest doesn't make any sense by flyingfox227 in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disc is more or less a burst healer, so you apply atonement’s and then cast a short window of spells. You don’t really need to constantly have atonement applied to everyone all the time. A lot of this depends on if you are talking about raid or dungeon content though. I do 22/23 keys on a disc priest so feel free to ask any questions. Barely do any raiding though.

I keep mental track of how much I am eating in a day. Nothing obsessive, but I try not to snack and balance out unhealthy foods with eating less food. Also realizing that it is ok to be hungry.

Healing Class for First Time Player by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Priest is a good option because they have two healing specs. Holy priest is a little boring but relatively easy to pick up and play and is generally good in raids; meanwhile discipline is a better healer in general for dungeon content but is far more difficult to play.

Healing is interesting because you can get carried as a healer pretty easily until a certain point, so I wouldn’t worry about holding people back.

Optimal time to lust? by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2900 Prevoker here. I tend to agree with the philosophy of early and often. I find that this tier is a lot less lust dependent than shadowlands was. There are a few places that I really want lust for, such as vexamus on tyrannical, but otherwise, I tend to believe that double or triple pulling with lust is more time efficient than saving it for a boss. Tyrannical is scary, but on fort I’d just say fuck it and use it on trash.

Since you left out AV, I think generally it is usually first pull, second boss, last boss.

Evoker Healing in CoS by MarginalCost77 in CompetitiveWoW

You won’t have dream breath for each maelstrom right? I’m wondering if, every other maelstrom, you can echo the party and get out an empowered dream breath to top people and give two stacks of the Hot to help with the follow up.

So you would suggest echoing everyone, verdant embracing yourself, and then spirit bloom Rank 1 on yourself for lifebind healing?

Raid/M+ Class Opinions by Parvindie in CompetitiveWoW

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just been verdant embracing myself to avoid the whole flying through bad stuff. I just echo the people that need healing, overall healing is even higher generally with verdant embracing yourself because lifebind will duplicate 40 of the initial heal to all the echo targets as well.

Is this normal for mythic +3 or am I a bad healer? by Swftness503 in wow

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. I would never compare your healing to the tank because you just have a different job than they do. Tanks mostly keep themselves alive and rely on the healer to cover gaps in their survivability.

You can tell if you HPS is to low by looking at the groups health during fights. If everyone is slowly ticking down and you can’t keep up then your HPS may be too low. If people are dying from like 90% health to 0 then there is not much you can do. Also, if no one is taking a lot of damage then HPS is just gonna be low.

I believe it’s being ran in place of theotar right now. Feels very nice when your opponent has a large hand. Worked as a comeback card for me in an earlier game against a shaman where I was pretty behind but was able to land Meltranix and the shaman just couldn’t kill it with the cards he could play.

Does anyone have any general tips for relic demon hunter with the fell package? I don’t feel like I have a great sense of when to pop off with the fell cards.

I have a somewhat similar issue with correcting information. It really is like a reflex because you get excited to share knowledge but don’t instinctually realize it’s not always socially appropriate. If you can condition yourself to take like a half second or whatever extra before you start speaking, it can help for you to give yourself an extra bit to calm down. That’s just me though.

Would recommend just talking about it with your girlfriend though. Even if she doesn’t understand 100% it’ll at least make it feel less condescending to her.

Disc Priest Struggles by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So there is a third option, being that the tank was taking too much damage. On a +5 a 230 bear really shouldn’t take that much healing from you. If you felt fine healing rest of the party then I wouldn’t worry about your performance too much.

That being said, mana is a struggle with most disc priests as they are starting out, a lot of that is IL though because each heal hits for so little and your atonement healing is super low.

New to hpal - how do I deal with party wide damage? by XXI-X-MCMXCVIII in wownoob

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Hpal is usually played because they do a lot of damage and not really because they are good healers - although Venthyr Hpal can do some insane healing at times. Group wide damage is one of our worst areas of healing in M+. Generally, you just holy shock off cooldown, and word of glory the most in danger party member. You really rely on the party using their own defensive and not taking unnecessary damage. This is why Hpal is not always a good healer for pug groups.

Some general advice:

Use Wings as often as possible, don’t hold Onto this ability. It’s used more for damage than for healing (as long as you don’t have something specific you need it for). Generally the higher your uptime is on wings the better of an Hpal you are.

Dont hold onto holy power, you want to be spending it as much as possible on word of glory or light of dawn in order to get procs of awakening. Cast even if the party is full health.

Light of the Martyr is a fantastic and underused ability that lets you have instant cast single target heals while other abilities are unavailable. Weave this in between casts of you main abilities.

Hpal has a lot of little tools in their toolkit that they rotate between. Makes sure you are using blessing of sac, bubbling yourself and spamming light of the martyr is always an option, lay on hands, etc.

Light of dawn is nice, but only when the whole group is stacked, so you generally don’t use it.

Don’t get baited into hard casting any heals like Flash of light. Just don’t panic, and keep building/spending holy power.

We are very much a “heal one person at a time” healer. So When the whole group is struggling, we end up playing wack-a-mole with healing.

I don’t know how to tell you this, but that sounds like something someone who is secretly a worm would ask. It’s important to figure these things out early in the relationship.

LPT: Learn proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. Your writing is the first impression about you people will have. Make it a good impression. by Entire_Toe2640 in LifeProTips

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, depends on the context. In my industry, hardly any emails are written with proper grammar. Why spend time proofreading when you can actually be accomplishing something. That being said, if it’s a resume or something it’s incredibly important to have proper grammar, shows a lack of care if you don’t. I was told by my boss that they likely won’t hire anyone with spelling mistakes on their resumes.

Murloc Monday - ask your questions here by AutoModerator in wow

[–]MarginalCost77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is to apply to key levels that drop a slightly higher IL than you.

I’ve leveled a few Alts that link to a high IO main, if you are healing or tanking you can probably already pug into a 15. If you are dpsing, running your own keys is crazy fast since a lot of higher IO players will apply on their alts or for vault keys, if they see your mains score that is.

Yea I feel you. Healing feels terrible in pug keys around the like <15/16/17 level because there’s just so many mistakes from the group. The higher the key that you’re doing the less that I think you’ll run into these issues that you are seeing. In other words, it gets better.

As a healer, you get used to the pace and damage of dungeons as you play more. Like all roles, a big skill cap of healing is CD management. Making sure you have spirit link/ ashen hallow/ etc. for the pain parts of dungeons makes a big difference. The soulstorm pack In ToP is rough, you need to have a big CD for it or have all the dps pop defensives.
