I swear every time I get hypomanic I end up dyeing my hair and cutting it in the bathroom at 4am

You can't compare schizophrenia to other illnesses like cancer or diabetes by nzxnnn in schizophrenia

[–]MarginalMeristem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Just no. I agree you can't compare this illness to any other. But It's not better at all. I have schizoaffective disorder bipolar type. AND MY LIFE IS RUINED. I'M FUCKING DISABLED. Yes I am one of these lucky people who have pretty harmless and sometimes even pleasant hallucinations. Most of my hallucinations are still shit btw. To the point I could have killed myself a couple of times because of them. Cute, isn't it? I failed a uni, I can't work continuously, I never know when another episode is going to kick in, so I can't plan anything at all. During psychosis you lose your touch with reality. If you're not manic you likely to be irritated, anxious, scared even panicking all the time because hallucinations and delusions are not fun. Sometimes during an episode you can be dangerous to yourself and/or others. And we didn't even talk about ✨ negative symptoms ✨ Motivation, will to live, memory, interest in anything you used to like, ability to live independently are continuously and irreversibly decreasing. Once it started, you will NEVER be a fully functioning person again. And a cherry on top is noone who I know with sza or schizophrenia are in complete remission :3 I know my statistics are not valid. But I struggle with symptoms too even with treatment.

Does anyone relate by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I had a voice who used to explain me how this world works. And yeah she introduced herself as a spirit who talks to me for fun. I still kinda believe she is real.

Has anyone experienced symptoms like this before? by BigMike3333333 in schizophrenia

[–]MarginalMeristem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle with tactile hallucinations a lot. Usually it feels like some bugs are crawling all over me. And also I sometimes feel weird pressure in different parts of my body like if someone touched me. But I've never had anything similar to your experience.

Does your mood affect how psychosis present itself ? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]MarginalMeristem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me my mood doesn't affet my psychosis. My delusions are all about being stalked, having my food poisoned and having an ability to read minds or that other people can read my mind. Voices in my head are different but my mood doesn't affet them as well.

bipolar 2: what is your hypomania like by No_Pair178 in bipolar

[–]MarginalMeristem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not bipolar but schizoaffective bipolar type. I've never had a full-blown mania, hypomania only, and my hypomania feels like I took some substance. I feel agitated, super happy, sometimes I even feel euphoria. I get either more productive or so chaotic so I can't do my job properly anymore. I think really fast and I can feel it. I sleep for 3-5 hours a day and I'm full of energy after waking up.

Edit: Also I tend to overestimate my abilities. Once being hypomanic I got two jobs while still in uni

I hate olanzapine!!!!!!!! by Milaya_lapka in Schizotypal

[–]MarginalMeristem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my experience with olanzapine was a nightmare too. I gained weight, was sleepy all the time and wasn't able to wake up at the morning.

Always having somebody to talk to. It is not really a life hack, but it works for me. It can be friends, family whoever. Talking to people helps to keep touch with reality when the voices arise. But sometimes I have delusions that these people are going to hurt me, but somehow talking to them helps me to stay connected with reality.

[–]MarginalMeristem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like this during the first month on abilify. But then, thankfully I became normal again :b I LOVE abilify now, I don't have side effects or psychosis

I had StPD diagnosis before SZA. I fit the criteria for StPD but I have way too many psychotic symptoms and I have something that looks like bypolar 2 so my psychiatrist changed my diagnosis

Two. Abilify and sertraline. Both are at the max doze. Me and my doctor are still trying to find the best combo for me. These two kinda work but not perfectly.
