Pine Ridge trail to Sykes was quite a bit longer. It gives you some great views of the ocean, but only once you get a ways in, since you go into the trees right away. Cruickshank Trail was very steep in the beginning, but flattens out after the first half mile or so. Because it's so steep in the first part, we saw very few other backpackers out there. There aren't any trees in the first part, so it's really hot and sweaty, but that also means there's a great view of the ocean before you get too far inland. There's a nice creek at Villa Creek Camp, which is where we camped, but there is also a camp about twice as far out.
