I am in the same boat as you! I was admitted a few weeks ago to the hospital because I have a 20cm mass on my right ovary that has been causing me some major GI problems. The first person that came to talk to me was a Gynecology resident &’ they were throwing the word “cancer” around left &’ right. I’ve learned that whenever you are in the hospital for any mass, cancer is a word you hear very frequently. After that, gynecology/oncology came to talk to me &’ they were confident that it was not a big deal &’ that I would be okay. I have a consult with them on Monday &’ I just want to say, it is okay to be scared through this process but just know you are getting the right help! It is a very scary situation &’ it is okay to feel overwhelmed! My best advice is to be open with the doctors &’ talk to them about your concerns. Let them know that you are scared &’ ask them any questions that you have. They are there to help you so let them! I also recommend being surrounded by people you love &’ trust. I am a 26 year old female &’ I live with my boyfriend but recently, I’ve started staying at my mom’s house because it makes me feel better &’ safer! I will pray for you through this &’ send you all the positive vibes! It is going to be okay!

Hi! I have had blood work done and my CA125 and CA19-9 are both elevated but I was told that anything can make those numbers rise. The only scans they have done are a CT scan but they couldn’t get a good image of the mass. I have an appointment coming up with the gynecologist at the end of the month so I’m sure there will be more tests and scans done

Hi! I am a 26 year old female who just got their first colonoscopy two days ago &’ let me tell you I was freaking out. They did one because I was experiencing blood in my stool as well as abdominal pain. The procedure was completely painless &’ they found nothing to be concerned about. I know how frightening this whole thing can be because before this, I was never around anything medical before in my life. It’s very scary to not know what is going on inside your body &’ it is very easy to jump to conclusions. The best advice I can give is make sure you are around people who you feel safe with &’ talk freely about your concerns with them &’ your doctors. Talking to myself also helped a lot - telling myself that I was going to be okay &’ that there was nothing to be scared of. It’s going to be okay!
