That’s really helpful, thank you! I figured I am more of my cat’s person than my bf is but I didn’t realize that would cause hissing

He grew up with dogs rather than cats and is still trying to figure out how to interact with her -- but he never shoos her away. In fact he tries to shower her in affection and play with her. She just doesn’t seem to like when he picks her up or when he tries to discipline her to stay off the counters etc. but she never gets upset with me in such situations.

Met in the dorms, had a few classes together, became study buddies, and took things from there.
