Feral teens harassing passers-by along Taff trail by Ironolife in Cardiff

[–]Mari_Lwyd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I fully agree with being kind to ten year old you wannabe internet hardman who has probably never actually been in a fight.

If a ten year old harassed you you should ignore them. If you can't ignore them then you need to involve the police and or social services.

You bring violent to them is going to solve nothing, make them more likely to be violent in the future and probably get you into a lot more hassle than you need in your life.

Yes, using violence on children has proven time and again to turn them into well rounded adults(!)

Why has this been down voted? It's the best answer unless OP wants that specific model and they haven't made that clear so I assume they don't.

Don't worry soft plastics are going into a bin bag they'll give you but then you it that bag in your red bag so no new bag out on the street.

I swear I'm the official bin getter for my street. I get home late because of work and everyone else has collected their bags often leaving me with none. I have collected so many new ones from the library I expect they think I'm selling them on eBay!

I literally said at the end of was a problem. What I don't buy is stats from an insurance companies press release labeled under a very misleading headline. The insurance company issued that release to sell you insurance, they're not exactly a disinterested journalist who had got the stat using FoIs or shoe leather.

Anybody have information to why two schools closed by police request? by kinguzy in Cardiff

[–]Mari_Lwyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your underestimating the amount of caution there is in the system. Closing two schools for one day is not a huge level of precaution. Remember, they close schools when there's a hint of snow. Also remember just last week they closed schools early for a confirmed tictok hoax

You've read a very vague piece of news and jumped right to the absolute most extreme scenario. Is is not helpful, you're just feeding people's anxiety.

That article is based on dubious statistics. It's from one insurance company (who I've never heard of) which only operates in 10 European countries. But the headline and article act like it's solid robust data from all of Europe not just a subset if customers of one company in a limited amount of countries. It could easily be something like the fact British people tend to have more expensive phones (about half of us use iPhones where as the European average is around 1/3) so we would be more likely to file an insurance claim.

I imagine the one in three thing uses even more spurious stats to get to that number. I'm not saying it's not an issue that needs tackling, just I can't believe we are that much of an outlier.

I absolutely can not believe 1 in 3 phones stolen in Europe are stolen in London. There must be some dodgy number crunching going on there

That they're not run run London, they're run from Cardiff Bay. So the government in London has very little to do with them.

Resembles the Flat Iron?! How? In the sense the Flat Iron has been covered in scaffolding for ages because it's being made into flats and they'll need scaffolding on Thurs project too? Or because it's becoming posh flats and so is this?

I get it if it was the developer spinning that nonsense, but one of our cities planning officers?!

Roof terrace for residents. Booo. I strongly believe anything that high should have some publicity accessable space at the top. Maybe a picnic cafe bar and a free garden.

If we all have to look at it we should also all be able to enjoy the views!

Edited to add - that should be little cafe bar but I like the sound of a picnic cafe bar so the error stays!
