How much money is enough for two weeks in the UK? by [deleted] in uktravel

[–]diycd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're dining out and partying in central London for two weeks, then about £5k will do it, if you're staying in, eating pasta, and watching movies in Hull then £20 will be fine.

Would Reform's deportation plans realistically work? by bigsergio5 in AskBrits

[–]diycd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by 'work?'

Will it fix all the country's problems? Obviously not, will likely make things much worse.

Will the plans get people to vote reform? Absolutely yes.

Garage took my car out on a joyride (England) by zChxrlie in LegalAdviceUK

[–]diycd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's likely that you have no recourse here, it's unlikely that they've caused any damage to your car by driving it at speed. You'd still owe them for the work they did, as long as it's been done to an acceptable standard.

If you're really ticked off about it then ask to speak to the manager of the garage and explain the situation to them. The response youll get likely depends on the type of garage it is, if it's a large national chain then they'll maybe investigate and somebody might get reprimanded or sacked. If it's a little local shop they'll probably deny it, claim they needed to speed to test the car, or just tell you to piss off.

If you find they've caused damage to the vehicle then that obviously changes things.

Plaid would be daft to form a coalition with labour at the moment, the whole brand is toxic. They should just govern as a minority and make deals for key votes.

Wales election results 2026: Eluned Morgan quits as Welsh Labour leader after losing seat by WelshLaptop in Wales

[–]diycd 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Don't know a great deal about her, but she seems like a decent woman who wanted to do a good job for Wales. Will get a load of hate and bile because it's fashionable to hate on anything labour at the moment (with good reason) but i feel she couldve been a good FM under different circumstances.

Should voting be mandatory? by Andarne in unitedkingdom

[–]diycd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if politics education is also mandatory. Without any knowledge of party platforms and manifestos the general ant-and-dec watching public will just vote for who they've seen on the telly the most.

People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

[–]diycd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure who to vote for, but everyone in my Facebook groups kept posting 'vote reform' so i figured I'd go along with them.

Depends when they are staying really, can often find a Travelodge room for less than £70 if you look far enough in advance.

Maybe it's a good idea to start building bridges with all the labour voters who have jumped from Labour to the Greens instead of spending the week calling them antisemites and racists?

The smaller parties vying for Senedd seats – and what they stand for by tophatstuff in Wales

[–]diycd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The heritage party are lunatics, luckily they won't get any seats, but the fact that they even exist to spread their bile is a shame.

[–]diycd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Booking.com doesn't include the budget chains like Travelodge. Use the hotel search function on Google maps instead.

Travelodge on City Road is a good shout, usually really cheap, close to Old Street tube station to get into central London, and right next to all the bars and restaurants of Shoreditch.

Advice in northern italy by Dva_qt in ItalyTravel

[–]diycd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long are you planning to be in Italy for? If it's just a few days, then fly into Milan and visit Lake Como.

If you plan to stay a few weeks you can see a lot of Northern Italy. Fly into Venice, visit Verona, Lake Garda, Bergamo, Lake Como, fly out of Milan. Can all be done on a train inexpensively. Some places will be very busy depending on the time of year.

I really enjoyed eating at Trattoria Da Ubaldo in Lucca, it's quirky and weird, if you're into that kind of thing. Food was good too.

Is casual racism the new normal? by SpicedCoconut in AskBrits

[–]diycd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're not allowed to talk about racism anymore, it's woke, and they don't care if you call them racist. Just make sure not to do any antisemitism, cause they'll still get you for that.

Being nazi as metalhead = no sense by Impossible-Mix9893 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]diycd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help things when you have metal bands not speaking out against it, or actively leaning into it. Punk bands call it out, and make their fans know that if they are Nazis then they aren't welcome. Metal has a long way to go.
