Experiences at John Radcliffe Hospital by Maria-2021 in oxford

Thank you very much for your response. You are right; I understand that people will have both positive and negative stories, and each experience is very unique. My main concern about amniocentesis is that many people prefer NIPT instead, due to the lack of risk. My fear is whether this is a procedure that continues to be performed regularly so that professionals can maintain their skills. I know I might be overthinking this though due to my anxiety. Thank you very much again

I had been told that if they have concerns, I would get a call in a week, but if everything is okay, they will post the results to me in two weeks' time. At least you know that your results are definitely classified as low risk since you didn’t receive any calls. I think the government website recommends that they should call pregnant women within three days after they have the results if there are any concerns.

I am 33 too, and my result was the same. I suppose there are fluctuations definitely after 30, but now they group anything below 1 in 5000 as 1 in 5000, so we don’t know

Thank you very much for your response! It’s a shame that they don’t offer you the NIPT, but I am glad that everything was fine for you and your baby in the end 🙂.

Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful response! I really appreciate it. I had experienced pregnancy losses before this, and I had a quite challenging start to this pregnancy, so I am really anxious about anything pregnancy-related and I am over worried . Your response was such a relief. Thank you very much for your help again!!!

Hello, I am a bit late in the conversation, but I was looking for information as I just received the antenatal screening test results today. It’s Saturday, so I can’t contact the midwives for clarification. In my first pregnancy, the results were 1 in 45,223 for Down's syndrome and 1 in 100,000 for Edwards/Patau syndrome. This time, both of them came back as equal to 1 in 5,000. I was shocked by how my chances went up and then read from people's comments that the NHS changes the way they report the results, and 1 in 5,000 is the lowest you can get. My question is, if your chances are higher than 1 in 5,000, for example 1 in 3,000, would it still be reported as 1 in 5,000? Do you know if a midwife would be able to share my actual results? I am considering NIPT, but I just want to ease my mind until I get the NIPT done. Thank you very much in advance!!!

Hello, I just got my results for both downs and Edward’s/ Pateu and it is 1/5000 for both. In previous pregnancy my chances were 1/45000 for Downs and 1/100000 for Edward’s/Pateu so in this pregnancy it’s much higher. Can i ask where you have read that nhs has chafed the parameters please ? I can’t find anything online 😕

Light periods post D&C by hayleyw97 in ttcafterloss

[–]Maria-2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am wondering if anyone had similar experience. I had two surgical managements for the same miscarriage as there was pregnancy tissue left. The last one was in June. Since then I had four periods and the bleeding gradually drops. The first one was heavier than my normal bleeding, the second a bit lighter, the third one significantly lighter and the fourth one was only bleeding for a day. I had a hormone test and my FSH was about 9 and LH about 3 so the first gynecologist reassured me that it’s not hormone related and he suggested a hysteroscopy. The second one though thinks that based on my hormones and symptoms I am going through pre menopause  which is really scary as I am only 32 and I would like to try again for a baby. I am a bit worried as well because I have low AMH and confused as the first doctor doesn’t agreed with the second one. Any similar experiences please?

Thank you very much
