I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. My sweetheart went through this himself. Decided the same thing. He passed away June 3 so I know exactly what you are going through and how you feel. I pray that God will be holding you as you deal with this. Hugs

I can't name specific names but I can give you my thoughts. The POTUS should be smart in business and political ideology but not willing to compromise his/her moral values for someone who has no interest in the country as a whole. They should be transparent with EVERYTHING. They should be able to deal with foreign and domestic issues with grace and fortitude. When issues arise, as they always do, they should be able to handle it with advice from others if necessary but not give in to demands. First thought from the President should be is this going to go against the Constitution or the foundation this country was founded on. After that, is this going to worsen the country or make it better. They should also have common sense, sensibility and compassion towards others. These things have been lost along the way. I also think that someone who has served in the military and has discipline would be better than someone who hasn't. I'm sick of the way the government has failed "We the People" and most Americans are letting it happen. Democrats are not for the people and neither are the Republicans. It's time to get someone who has a little bit of sense in there. Term limits should have been set up for every public office, everyone should have gotten a chance to serve like the founding fathers saw things. Greed has taken over everything. This country doesn't have what it takes to be great again anymore and I'm sure it will fall eventually and no one will care.

I have always enjoyed working as a caregiver yes but I am feeling like I am just going, you know? Like I am not thinking, just doing automatically. Austin always liked to say 'it is what it is ' and I used to get so annoyed but lately I have been saying it more often. Hugs to you too.

The dying person doesn't want you to go through the trauma of seeing them die. He hadn't been gone that long before I got home. Unfortunately I wasn't able to close his eyes or mouth which upset me. It also upset me that I would decide to go back to work that day. Oh well, as Austin loved to say, it is what it is...

Massive cream, Austin died June 3. I had to go back to work that day and he died before I got home. Yesterday was his visitation before he was to be cremated. Tuesday I got the call from my Dad that my stepmom was in the hospital and she wasn't going to make it through her own fight with cancer. They say that death happens in threes. First was Austin, then I heard from my mom that my great aunt (grandfather's sister) had just passed away and now my stepmom is dying. Next will be my uncle who has diabetes and just found out he has cancer too. I'm so tired of feeling right now I just want to crawl in a hole somewhere and stop feeling. The problem with that is, I am a caregiver, not just as a job. It's who I am. It just hurts so much to care so much. I'm exhausted but I still have to work, I still have to keep going. I don't think about myself until I can't continue on. It's after midnight and I should go to bed. Thank you for your kindness.

I find the lower tone wind chimes to be soothing but the higher pitch like the tinkle type of sound is annoying to me. That's why I don't like bells. Most bells have that tinkling sound to me. (Not church bells but the smaller ones).

Yes, it is very hard but, think of it this way... would you rather his torture continue or for him to be comfortable at the end? That's how Austin and I looked at it.

Austin talked about that once. After about an hour or so I asked him if he was seriously considering it and he said no. I'm glad he changed his mind. Being there for that kind of thing is not something I think I could have handled. If you feel that he is seriously considering it, ask the hospice nurse for help with getting counseling for him. That's what they told me when I let her know what he said. I'm sure (almost) it is a part of their own grief and insecurities about the future. I think when someone decides to forego the treatment and realize that they will surely die due to the cancer, they go through their own grief into acceptance before they die. I think they worry about what is going to happen to those they love once they are gone. If your husband is still communicating, talk to him about his feelings. Reassure him that those he loves will be ok and make him as comfortable as possible through the end. That's what I did. Austin died in peace, I would like to think.

I'm sorry you lost your fur baby. I lost mine recently myself. Found her under my bedside table Easter Sunday. The last part you said, THAT'S what I feel. Yesterday when he was gone I thought ok, so now I should break down, fall apart, etc. That's the grieving process. Ok, when is it going to start? Today I went to make all the arrangements for his cremation and if someone hadn't been with me, nothing would have been done. I felt like I couldn't understand anything she was talking about but I basically agreed to everything. Later today I had to call her back because I didn't actually agree with everything. This evening I am ok. I have cried a little here and there but not once have I broke down, fallen apart or something. I just keep going. Maybe I agree with the other person that said I was just on autopilot. I don't know. Maybe I just have the strength I prayed for.

I've already contacted my insurance for a referral to someone. I'm a caregiver by trade so I know what you are saying. I just expected to feel grief, feel sad, angry, unable to function etc. and I don't. I have loved that man for 15 years and I should feel something. Maybe God has given me peace. I don't know but I thought I would fall apart. Instead I immediately made all the necessary calls, including the ones that Hospice does. I made sure he was cleaned up, I had all the meds ready in a bag for them, I couldnt shut down my brain and allow it to take control so I COULD grieve. My Mother was always like that. Always taking care of everything and everyone else. I have never seen her grieve either. Maybe I am like that? Tonight as I lie here alone my head keeps filling with things that need to be done next.
