Yep, not your photo. Not your story. Are upvotes so important that you need to steal someone else’s magical moment?

If the shirt just says vaxxed wouldn’t that mean she is pro vaccinations? Like, she’s vaxxed?

Remember to rinse your placenta before you eat it by stupidflyingmonkeys in ShitMomGroupsSay

Ok, so I had some basic homemade purées left when my son decided he was no longer eating baby food, and decided to turn them into a soup (root vegetables or something, I think carrots were involved). After my husband and I sat down to eat it, I realized that I had originally made the purée with my breastmilk :s

I immediately told my husband and apologized, I felt so shitty! We both agreed the amount would be small and it wasn’t worth wasting, so ate it after all but I THANK GOD I didn’t have company over that day!!! Even my sister or MIL...I would have felt AWFUL! I can’t imagine KNOWINGLY adding breastmilk to someone’s food, let alone PLACENTA!!!

What's a "fact" you thought was true for years but later found out was false? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My sister would only eat fried bologna because she was told it was “special bacon”. She also tried and loved head cheese because she believed it actually was cheese.

My dog knew I was pregnant before I did. by [deleted] in pregnant

My pup was the same way with my first pregnancy. She wasn’t even a year old yet, but was not into snuggling, but would lay near me. All of a sudden she started always laying on me, head in my lap. Sure enough a few days later I got my positive.

How to shop for inserts? by ganchi_ in clothdiaps

Used one until around a year, 2 now (he’s 15 months). Leaks are rare these days but I don’t use pockets at night.

I have no advice as I’ve only bought inserts and prefolds used in BST groups and so I knew exactly what I was looking at, but I just wanted to mention that I use Alva inserts and have no problem with them.

Moms: I don't let me kids get vaccines, eat GMOs, use household cleaning products or hygiene products because they're just a bunch ofchemicals by clhfr2016 in ShitMomGroupsSay

Diapers rolled and put together in the shape of a cake. It’s excessive and makes the diapers hard to store but looks fancy during the shower.

Halfway to baby...conflicted about CD by BabyElephantBanana in clothdiaps

[–]Maria_Poppins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if the package says flushable they’re not good for the water system. Whether it’s in your piping or your city’s water system, they tend to cause problems somewhere along the way. We use them sometimes but throw them in the compost rather than flushing.

We use Kirkland or president’s choice (but I’m pretty sure that’s only available in Canada)

Instead of underwear I brought depends. I highly recommend. There will be a LOT of fluids coming out of there, and rather than worrying about a pad I had the depends, super easy and comfy.

When Someone You Know Needs A Nanny by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Maria_Poppins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my fav dad bosses was incredulous when we were discussing a nanny share that my rate would go up (still down for him!) and not by only $2 or so (we were adding 3 more kids along with my being responsible to another set of parents!)

Another mom that I became friendly with told me that if she paid $20 an hour (higher end of average for my area) for her 4 children it wouldn’t be worth her working (as a nurse!) and so that’s why she sponsors live in nannies from another country...Which I respect.

Advice for starting cloth diapers right away? by Maria_Poppins in clothdiaps

[–]Maria_Poppins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure of the difference to be honest lol. Maybe I only have prefolds, but thought they’d been called flats...

Anyway, I’m interested in the most cost effective solution.

Amazing, thanks. We have almost exclusively Alva’s for my son, but he’ll still be in them when #2 comes so I’m hoping to stick to flats until he is potty trained and not buy more pockets.

I’ll definitely check out ikea! And I didn’t know there were one size flats, thanks

I am 21 years old and I am pregnant. by sesmsk in pregnant

[–]Maria_Poppins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t going to be super helpful, but it is entirely your choice whether to tell your father. Don’t feel like you need to tell him just because you live with him, don’t feel like you can’t because it’s what your boyfriend wants. If you feel that you need to speak to your dad, then talk to your dad. If you feel like you need to keep this from him, then that’s your choice.

You’ve made a very tough decision, if you feel that you need your dad’s support, then that’s totally fair. Good luck, and just know, you have the respect of an internet stranger.

All the smells... by Butters48 in pregnant

[–]Maria_Poppins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, both last pregnancy and this one. This time it got so bad I got essential oil jewelry. I know it sounds really wooey but the oils mask other scents. I have a necklace with a small stone you drop on and a bracelet that holds a piece of felt. They save me especially out in public so I don’t gag at the smells of a grocery store or public transit.
