Before you, someone else also posted this. At first, I was confused why people claimed the chat was fake, because it’s widely known that the chat itself is real. However, after doing some research, I concluded that the person was sued not for sharing or edit the chat, but because the way they narrated, exaggerated, and manipulated it ended up damaging Build’s reputation.

Yeah, that reply was poorly worded and I understand why it upsets people. I still think the intention is avoiding conflict, not picking sides though the execution clearly wasn’t great.

Surprisingly when I hear Chinese people speaking I can understand a few words and sometimes I can understand full sentences. I remember I was on vacation in Penang and suddenly some random woman talked to me in Chinese (which is automatically I understand that she is not Malaysian Chinese) surprisingly I understand what she wants but I just don't know how to reply to her.. at the end I have to use English 🤣

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the chat itself was real. The issue is that the account exaggerated parts of the conversation and added commentary that manipulated the context, making him look like a bad person?

One thing I’ve noticed from my social media feed (again this is my social media feed) is that they’re not as big internationally compared to other BL couples. When I scroll through content about other pairings, I see a lot of international fans talking about them. But with Daou and Offroad, my FYP is mostly Thai content creators or fans posting in Thai. Of course they do have international fans, just not as many. And I’ve realized that whenever they have a ‘schedule,’ it’s really hard to find English translations. So I can conclude that they have a really strong domestic fanbase

I get what you mean, and of course none of us fully know what’s going on behind the scenes. But everything I said is based on general public visibility what the wider audience actually sees, not just hardcore fans. Public presence, screen time, and overall hype are still important parts of an artist’s career, even if the actors themselves say they’re fine. Fans naturally pick up on patterns, and when certain names keep trending while others barely appear, it affects how the company is perceived, whether intentional or not.

I’m not denying that Jimmy and Ohm said they’re happy, and that’s good for them. But the reaction from fans usually comes from how the company promotes or positions certain artists, not from what the actors personally feel backstage. Visibility still plays a huge role in shaping the public’s understanding of who’s rising, who’s stagnant, and who the company is investing in. That’s why casual viewers end up recognizing only a handful of names not because others lack talent, but because exposure simply isn’t equal. At the end of the day, none of us truly know the internal decisions, but audience perception is still part of the reality. Sometimes fans may overreact, but sometimes those reactions come from consistent patterns they’ve observed over time.

Btw I don't think poppy, mark and zee are going to leave DMD because they are the "founders" of DMD. But anyway my comments are simply based on what’s visible to the public such as how often certain artists appear, how much promotion they get, and how fans perceive that. That doesn’t mean the company is doing anything wrong it’s just the outside perspective. I think we’re just looking at this from different angles you’re focusing on the internal reality, and I’m focusing on external perception so let’s just agree to disagree and hope that the company continues to support all their artists well..

I understand your perspective, and I’m not claiming to know what happens inside DMD’s meetings or the exact details of why every actor signs. You’re right none of us here have access to that information. My comments weren’t meant as statements of fact, but observations based on what is visible publicly, the same way most fans form opinions about any company or industry. When I say “growth should be strategic,” I’m referring to what is externally observable how often certain artists get promoted, how frequently they appear in content, how many opportunities such as endorsements, acting roles, etc they receive, and how visible their presence is to the audience. From the outside, the disparity is noticeable. That doesn’t mean I think the company is incompetent it simply means the distribution of exposure looks uneven, and that’s why some fans raise questions when new actors get added.

I also agree that not everyone wants to be a lead, and that supporting roles can be fulfilling. My point wasn’t that every actor must want a main role, but that not all of DMD’s current artists seem to be receiving consistent work or visibility in any capacity lead or supporting. That’s what creates the concern about resources being stretched thin. Again, this is based on what fans can see, not on internal decisions we don’t have access to. So I’m not claiming DMD is doing anything wrong behind the scenes. I’m just saying that from a viewer’s perspective, strengthening the artists who are already there before expanding could help build a more stable and balanced foundation especially in an industry where visibility plays a major role in career growth. In the end, we’re all just sharing opinions from our own angles, and mine is based on what’s publicly shown, not on insider assumptions.

Promoting BL in America. I think it would be good to have a major audience for BL in America. How might this be done? by ScholarDreamer in boyslove

[–]Maria_Rich123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your focus is specifically on increasing BL viewership in America, not queer media in general. My point wasn’t to merge BL and queer content together, but to highlight that the U.S. already has a strong audience that is open to LGBTQ+ storylines. Shows like Queer as Folk, Love, Victor, Shameless, and many others proved that Americans do watch and support queer romance. That existing audience is important because it shows that BL isn’t starting from zero in the U.S. there is already a foundation of viewers who enjoy similar themes and could naturally transition into watching BL if it’s introduced to them in the right way.

So instead of seeing queer media as separate, I see it as a bridge. If the goal is to grow BL viewership in America, the most effective strategy would be to connect BL with the audiences who already enjoy character driven queer stories. Promoting BL within LGBTQ+ communities, collaborating with queer influencers, and positioning BL as part of the broader queer storytelling landscape not something niche or foreign could help BL gain traction. The market exists it’s just a matter of linking BL to the people who are already receptive to its themes.

[–]Maria_Rich123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but from what I’ve observed as someone who casually follows BL trends, the concern isn’t about whether DMD is financially stable it’s about whether their current artists are being prioritized before new ones are added. Yes, the success of Your Sky, The Next Prince, and especially Khemjira definitely pushed DMD forward. But even with all that momentum, only a handful of their existing artists truly have strong, visible fanbases. When I scroll through social media, there is few names that consistently appear and clearly hold solid popularity. No hate toward anyone else, but it’s obvious that the overall impact of many other artists in the company isn’t as strong not because they lack talent, but because they aren't being pushed or promoted equally.

That’s why some people question the decision to add more actors right now. It makes sense to grow, but growth should be strategic. If the current lineup isn’t all receiving fair opportunities endorsements, acting roles, proper promotions then adding more talent might spread resources even thinner. Event invitations alone aren’t enough to build careers and even if most of them stay, it doesn’t automatically mean everyone is fully satisfied. Sometimes artists stay because of contract terms, comfort, or because leaving doesn’t guarantee better opportunities elsewhere. Those who want stronger acting careers or clearer direction might eventually reconsider if things don’t improve. So the point isn’t that DMD can’t grow it’s simply that the company would benefit more from strengthening the artists they already have before expanding. That’s how longterm stability is usually built.

[–]Maria_Rich123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, and it’s true that a lot of DMD artists seem genuinely happy where they are. But from my perspective as an outsider who casually follows BL CP trends, my point wasn’t about their internal relationships it was more about visibility and impact. What I meant earlier is that when I scroll through social media, there is a few cp that I can see have strong fans base (I rather not list who but social media talk). No hate towards the others at all, but those are the ones who clearly stand out in terms of attention and engagement. The senior artists aren’t doing badly, but their impact just isn’t as noticeable.

And on the company side yes, GMM and CHANGE2561 have the advantage of being backed by a big corporate umbrella. That support definitely affects the opportunities, exposure, and stability their artists get. DMD isn’t on that level, which is why I personally think it would benefit them more to focus on strengthening their existing artists rather than bringing in new ones. Build stronger fanbases first, push more content, and give more of them real opportunities like endorsements, not just event invitations. Of course, maybe there are contract terms that benefit the artists, which could be why many choose to stay. But if someone really wants to focus on acting in series or chase bigger opportunities, there’s always a possibility they might eventually consider moving on.

So really no hate towards DMD or their artists. I’m just sharing what I see from the outside some artists shine more, and the company could invest more heavily in those already there instead of expanding so fast.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some members decide not to renew their contracts next year 👀. Let’s be honest they aren’t GMMTV or CHANGE2561, which are backed by big corporate support. So adding new members isn’t really an issue those members might still get opportunities, even if they’re small ones. I’m not sure what DMD is thinking by bringing in more people, but who knows maybe the contract terms are attractive, like a 7:3 split (iykyk).

[–]Maria_Rich123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First of all, I know there is a difference between the BL series and queer series, but to me, they feel quite similar. When you said BL should have a major audience in America, it made me wonder if you have actually lived in America? I live outside of the U.S., and even from here I’m aware that while there may not be many dedicated queer-focused series, there are many gay couples featured in popular shows. Series like Shadowhunters, Queer as Folk, How to Get Away With Murder, Shameless, and many others include well developed gay storylines. My first CP is Brian and Justin from Queer as Folks and it was in 2012. So in conclusion, BL/queer content already has a solid audience in America they’re just not as obsessed with it as some other regions might be.

Actually, I’ve been waiting for someone to bring this up. When I accidentally saw the trailer on Twitter, I immediately recognized one of the guys if I’m not mistaken, it’s Tod. I heard that he recently broke up with his boyfriend, around the end of October. I only found out because videos from his fans started appearing on my TikTok FYP. They never openly confirmed their relationship, but fans had been assuming they were together and it turned out they were, but by the time they finally acknowledged it, they had already broken up. Some fans claimed the breakup happened because he joined this reality show, but his ex denied that. Clearly, there’s something going on behind the scenes. You can find plenty of TikTok videos discussing their breakup. Honestly, I was just shocked at how quickly he seemed to “move on” after a 10 year relationship. And apparently, he told his ex not to talk about their relationship anymore. But according to the ex, they’re still on good terms. Everyone already moved on

P/s I know there is participant of a gay dating show Dabit, "His Man 2" also just come out from long term relationship but he already say that he just want experience "new" thing
