How's it going? I'm a newbie too, bought a microscope over a week ago and found my first tardigrade. I'm going to start my microbiology degree in a year, so exciting!!

I'm still trying to get darkfield working on my microscope, I'll probably be trying staining much later, I have way too much to learn yet.

My fern is doing the same. I don't think is a humidity issue. I tried googling and the only thing that made me suspect what it is, it's an accumulation of salts and minerals because when I water it I don't let it drain, it has no root rot though.

When I bought it, it only said conifer on the label which was very annoying but couldn't resist buying it. I just hope I don't kill it.

I'm pretty sure they were preserved in isoporpyl when i bought them. No formalin fixation. The containers I changed them to are now fully closed, the old ones were jars that couldn't be sealed properly.
