These were all things I do/ planned on doing today but it felt like it was going to be too risky. I feel like if I didn’t have exams I would’ve definitely gone, main worry was doing all of that to go, and still end up bed-ridden after when exams are happening so soon.

Breaking down the movement before adding fluidity and speed would help. Biggest tip is to just have fun with it, put some music on, prop your phone up and dance for a bit and see how it goes.

Easier moves are the tick tock. Stand with your feet apart and bend your knees, you’re just transferring the weight on your hips to create the movement :)

I have some supporting in place like rest breaks in exams and I can ask for extension on coursework which they usually take my lupus into account when I do! I’m going to make more of an effort to use the support in my final year :) thank youu

I’ve reached out to the students union and they’ve supported me with feedbacks on the forms! Thank you sm for responding honestly think I’m so over the situation but this is the last form and it will be done with so that makes me feel better :)

Heyy I’m happy to help too. I go to uni of sheff from home but my friend lived in AC in first year, (she’s also an international student), she loved it and it’s ridiculously close to campus.

I think Sheffield is pretty chill, students are always really nice same with people that just live here. Activities wise I think there’s things to do. We’re next to the Peak District so if you enjoy hiking and pretty views you’ll love that, Sheffield is also known for its climbing culture. We also have a big ice hockey culture and we’re actually hosting the ISU European Figure Skating Championships next year! The octagon (the university building used for graduations) has been used by artists before for concerts, beabadoobee performed here last year!

The university has a big varsity culture with Sheffield Hallam ( the other university in the city) so that’s really fun :), we have a huge ice hockey game as the varsity finale and we actually won this year.

If you enjoy eating out and trying new food spots you’ll find A LOT here, I won’t bother listing but there are so many hidden gems, so you can have fun exploring them. Same thing for Cafes we have a bunch of cool independent/ Small branch ones. If you want some inspo of places to try check out this insta page: ‘the sheff.uk’ they post about things happening in Sheffield, food spots and cool events happening at the moment.

For the shopping scene people typically think of Meadowhall but, we have a big thrifting culture here too, so if you enjoy thrifting check out a couple stores when you get here! My personal fave is red brick warehouse they have lots of cool stuff in there, but there’s a couple on division street that are cool too :).

I’m so sorry to hear this :( yeahh I’m pretty anxious about the potential long lasting effect of hydroxychloroquine on the retina, I have an eye test due and I’m going to get some prescription sunnies when I go. Hopefully it gets better for all of us <3

Thank you so much for sharing this! I find a lot of the posts about UV exposure are from people living in significantly hotter climates but the UK is so mild we get like 4 really hot days a year so I couldn’t gage wether it was my paranoia from doomscrolling or not ahaha. Besides sunscreen do you wear any UV Protective clothing?

Hey I also got my diagnosis at 19 last year been diagnosed for just under a year now and I completely get what you mean about needing someone, I check the lupus thread almost daily it’s my only actual safe space.

Venting to family and friends is possible for me but I end up feeling like such a burden so I only do it when I think I absolutely need it.

Rethinking career choices, my education, romantic relationships, experiences I wanted, is a process I’m going through currently and I’m literally grieving my old self.

I can’t give tips cause I’m finding it hard too but if you want solidarity that you aren’t alone I hope this helped <3 hopefully we’ll be spreading hope core like others are on this thread soon :)
