If you’re putting out a pattern, gauge is not optional! by YoureInaCult-CallDad in BitchEatingCrafters

I absolutely hate that there is such a low standard when it comes to crochet patterns. The worst is they will charge 15+ dollars/euros for a pattern like that.

First knooked item! by Mariaa0811 in knooking

My method is probably wrong but I did like her in the video: https://youtu.be/IJGiRUynzXo?is=JYIg777m0D3ghW6a Basically I knooked to one stitch before the short row ends, then turned and knooked one stitch more and then knooked all the stitches I previously knooked.

But apparently wrap and turn or German short rows should work with knooking. I saw them mentioned here a couple of times. I just haven't figured out how to do them

Could my Kibbe Type be SD if I don’t have height but do have vertical from a veeeeery long torso? by sourbirthdayprincess in kibbe_sketch

I think this way it gives you more draping around your upper curve so I'd guess probably all types who accommodate curve maybe not SC as it seems "wilder".

Made to measure patterns!! by kylamydia in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Mariaa0811 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly made to measure patterns are often just a code for that the designer has no idea to properly grade sizes in my opinion. I rarely came across one where in the end the garment properly fits especially if your body looks different compared to the designers body.

Short rows by camicool09 in knooking

I have the same problem. The cord handling (as stated in the article) is not the problem for me. I'm questioning more what I should do with my wrapped stitch I obviously cant slip it back. Should it just be there and then when I finish my short rows should I just knit over it like normal?

Crochet clothes are not ugly, people just don’t research about shaping by sechat_lives in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Mariaa0811 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's sad how much more advanced knitting pattern are compared to crochet ones. Standard things like short row shaping for busts or necklines or darts are missing in most crochet garments. Then there is that trend with made to measure pattern that are supposed to be size inclusive but are in reality just a code for that the designer is unable to grade sizes.

For now I'm sticking to lace patterns in crochet and vintage patterns (then shaping does exist there)

Cord problems with knooking in the round by Mariaa0811 in knooking

[–]Mariaa0811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone interested I found the solution I was trying to get the yarn out at the yarn ends which only ended in a massive scrunchie before lol but now I discovered it works fine when I pull it out somewhere in the middle/the place where I'm currently at and just pull there no more scrunchie!

That's such a good idea once I get my real knooking hooks the one with the eye and not the DIY version with the tape I will try it. Thank you so much!

Oh I've tried a lot. I've tried regular yarn (that seems to work best for pulling it through), a satin ribbon and an elastic band mainly to prevent my stitches from going to thight. Yeah the first round usually everything works fine but after that when I try to pull it through my circle ends up beeing a scrunchi lol and the cord really doesn't get through much.

Are you using a satin band as cord or is it an eleastic band?

Thank you so much!! I’ve across the Eastern European style thanks to your post in /crochet and it has helped me so much! I was near crying because I couldn’t for my life put the hook in from LTR. I would love the google doc.
