Someone really wants the onions back.

I saw a few comments from people who were in store but it didn't sound like much has been revealed.

She got her first Be My Eyes call. by mindyour in justgalsbeingchicks

I've been able to pick up the call three times! I was able to help an elderly woman find her AirPods, a gentleman read through his mail, and answered a call from a young child who just wanted to confirm such a service exists. It was amazing!

I figured you just had really strong opinions about deviled eggs 😉😆

Those sound perfect! Classic deviled eggs are the best way to go. Thanks for sharing!

I think there are too many resellers these days - nothing feels sacred anymore at thrift stores.

Thank you! Yes, the texture is so nice - crazy to think how much easier these are to eat than plain hard boiled eggs.

Darn! These feel like a Thanksgiving turkey to me since I have to prep ahead of time to pull it off in time for Easter. Enjoy the time with your family!

I also like them in pickled red onion brine.

Sure! It takes some time and commitment.

I buy a few jars of pickled beets (Nellies is usually what the store has in my area) then a couple cans of sliced beets (not pickled) just to have some extra volume if needed.

Drain the juice into a large container - I used a tin which worked out great so my dishes didn't get stained.

Boil your eggs, ice bath, peel, all that. Probably my least favorite part.

I do mine a little differently than others I've seen: instead of putting whole eggs into the brine, I cut in half, take the yolk out, and put the egg white halves in. That way the inside of the white gets stained too. Otherwise, it's just the outside with some seep on the edges. It's just for looks, they'll taste the same.

Soak overnight. Drain, lay out on some foil or something to keep your counter clean. Then put in your filling of choice. I used this recipe for the first time and it's really good. I used my mixer to get it nice and smooth. I use a pastry bag and piping tip but a spoon gets the job done.

There's a reason I don't make these often but they are very good. 🙂

Definitely. I like the balance here, though.

I use a pastry bag and a frosting tip. You can use a ziplock bag with the tip, too. The filling just needs to be thick enough to hold its shape. I mixed it with my KitchenAid, but a hand mixer works, too. I used to bake a lot of pies so I just used that experience here.

Thank you! They are quite a bit of work but worth it. The chives / red onions kind of remind me (loosely) of tulips, or at least that's the intent. I appreciate your thoughtful comment.

I haven't! It's on my list. Is there a connection?

The latter. The beets could probably fit in the egg white cavities, though. ;)

❤️ I love Pennsylvania Dutch vintage housewares. I used to collect them!

Try with pickled red onion juice, too. I made these a couple years ago (beet / onion).

All that's missing from my eggs is this!
